Units won't move very much

Post by asd123321 »

Clicking on a unit, I often have many hexes lit up but the unit won't go to most of them
but might move if I move it one hex at a time. I have C + C off and Move radius on.

Move radius A or B toggles whether the hexes a unit can move to is highlighted or darkened. Stricly an aethetic setting.

C&C ON is the where your culprit is. With C&C On, a unit will not move at all if it is in a Defend stance. If in an advance stance - only the hexes toward its objective will be highlighted. It can still move in hexes away from the objective - it just costs an order to do so.

If you're new or haven't read the mechanics of C&C On, do yourself a favor and turn C&C Off.

The possible hexes are just likely movable hexes! Check for the "*" (asterisk) at the unit info bar. It indicates you´re spotted by enemies and thus "combat friction" kicks in! Check game manual for exact movement point reduction of "combat friction movement". Also shooting substracts from your movement points.

It's best to move one hex at a time because the AI sucks at moving your units through a smart path. If there is a mine or an ambush, the AI will move your unit into it.[;)]
