Victim of a mag explosion. She was refloated and fitted with a new bow however.

CL is probably Helena. She took a torpedo, which detonation opened up the seams of Oglala tied up alongside, causing her to sink. Untouched by enemy weapons, "She died of fright;" I love that. She was also refloated and put back into service.

The remains of Shaw's bow in floating drydock YFD-2, which was also sunk during the attack, but which was also salvaged and later put back in service.

Not much left of it is there. I always assumed that they gave the name to a newer class of ship.

That picture of the Shaw's bow is actually sort of scary; it's like it was torn off by a giant hand, tossed high into the air and just landed in that dock.

Actually, one bomb could only do one single tank. Each of those storage tanks is surrounded by a berm (visible in the photo) tall enough to completely contain the contents of the tank. A simple logical precaution that is in use in any tank farm you will ever see anywhere.

in my game pennsylvania was torpedoed despite being in dry dock... japanese torpedos are realy good.
