Another Stupid Newby Question!!

Post by AFIntel »

What does the "Replacement Rate", "Production Rate", and "Build Rate" exactly signify? I think (something dangerous for one in military intelligence to do[:D]) the build rate is units per month, but what is the relationship between "Replacement" and "Production"?

I couldn't clearly understand this function from the manual (no spears toward the wonderful writers) or the forum. So I humbly ask guidance from you, oh intelligent gods of the WitP forum

Thanks!

As far as I can tell, "Production" rate means actual factories you can find some symbol for on the map. If your factories are located somewhere with insufficient oil and resources, the factories won't produce to full capacity. Hence, when playing this game, suck oil and resources out of the DEI and send oil to Australia, and oil and resources to India. Besides, it gives those supply convoys out of Karachi something to do on their way home.

Replacement is an unspecified (and off-map) source for aircraft, parts, and men. Thus, the Martin 139, for example, seems to be either produced or pulled out of storage from some unidentified Dutch supply port somewhere. Sort of like the Dutch ground reinforcements that are available. Now, maybe it's true that every right-thinking Dutchman got on board some Dutch fishing trawler after Holland was overrun by the Nazis and sailed to the DEI to enlist in the Free Dutch Army - but I don't think so.

Build rate - units per month.

Maybe it ain't official, but this is how I understand it.

Aircraft factories run off of HI. They don't need Oil or Resources at their location to function. As long as you have HI in the pool, your factories will run.

Only HI factories need Oil and Resources at their specific location to work.
