Enforced Surrender

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Enforced Surrender

Post by Forwarn45 »

In my first game playing as France, I forced Austria to surrender and played with the surrender terms. One was that they would declare war on Russia (their ally). I was allowed to include the term but a couple turns later - no action against Russia and the diplomatic screen indicates they are still allies. Any ideas why?

The AI may be unable (or unwilling) to honour the surender term - in which case they are supposed to take a big glory hit for being a scumbag. They can be in a difficult situation - for example, they may have another treaty where they promise Russia not to declare war on them, which means they have to break one of the treaties.

However, I would wait another month or two - surrender conditions take 1 month for you to propose, then 1 month for them to agree, and then happen in the third month - your next turn, I believe.
