Could it be the SIAI Marchetti S.M.79-1936?

I'd say no Terminus. The tail of the CANT was completely different, altough from the nose it really seems a CANT.

I'd go further and say S.M.79 I version

Sorry Hoepner, but there's no way those are SM79's. They don't have the hunchback behind the cockpit. And the Cant's were manufactured with both single and dual vertical stabilisers. This is an SM79, the nose is a lot shorter, which is another giveaway:

And on top of it all, I found Brady's picture whilst out Googling. It was on an Italian site, but still... Fair's fair, though, I thought it was an SM-79 at first as well, but the hunchback is quite distinctive and the tail is different. Then I looked at the Cant, but the picture I had was of a twin-tailed variant. Had to actually read the text [X(] to find out about the multiple production variants.

It is a CANT Z-1007 Alcione (Kingfisher). Says Cant on the fuselage, helps narrow the search. [:D]
