A "reset-all-to-zero" button in development screen please!

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

A "reset-all-to-zero" button in development screen please!

Post by nukkxx5058 »

I would like to suggest a new button in the development screen which would reset all productions to zero. The current system is painful: we have to manually reset to zero all cursors individually before to choose our custom set-up.

What do you think ?

Just "pulling" two sliders to max sets all others to zero.... but yes a "reset all to zero" button would be better

Yes please..... And clicking that last tiny bit to make zero is painful. [8|]

I would like more a +/- button or a text box as alternative to the sliders. In the Economy screen sliders works very well, but when you have 20 provinces you must take care of 140 sliders and this is a pain to do it all with the mouse.

How about even an option with which to set all parameters to optimal values (to provide the best mix of productivity, so I don't need to take the trouble for it, heh) for the city. [:'(]

HI, I prefer just having a box I can assign value to. In the end the total must equal 100. Sliders are a pain. Sliders along with a +- button are alright. (so you can add or subtract 1 at a time to get the production you want)

sliders with a + - button is alright IF the system reacts quickly which is not the case ... a box with value to fill is better.

But the reset-all-to-zero button remains very usefull IMHO.

this is difficult because there is no optimal value ! the optimal combination will vary over time and according to situation: One year I may need labor, the next year I may need food ... so i will setup for food in regions for which it is not the optimal production.

Hi Optimal is way to vague. The AI would have to understand your plans and future intent. Optimal output for any given province might not provide what you need. Sometimes I don't want max output of any item that would be the optimal output for that region I might instead require a iron province to produce textiles. It's not optimal but it's what I need.
Of course the reset button would save a few minutes per region and when you have 20 regions it would speed the game up. (Esp online)

Just let AI know about the plan before letting it handle the optimising job. For instance, we give target values for food and labour, and tell AI of a certain priority order for the remaining commodities. AI is going to make cross-province arrangements to try reach the food and labour targets while arranging for production of other commodities in the given order of priorities. At least, AI should know better about the productivity advantages unique to the provinces and be able to approach, if not reach, optimisation. I believe the developers are sophisticated enough to materialise, or even exceed, it. [:'(]
