The MIA List.

Post by Scott_WAR »

This list is being started to list those players who at some point have repeatedly or permanently, held up a game, whether by quitting or taking more time than necessary to do a turn.

A few guidelines.

1-Do not flame. Just list facts. This is to warn other players, not to be a jerk.

2-Do not add someone for one occassion they didnt do a turn on time. Accidents and life happens. This is for those who are consistent in not doing their turns in a timely manner.

3- Do not add someone if they concede the game. This list is for those that dissappear with no warning.

4- If you see your name listed, and think it is listed unfairly, do not flame the person that listed it. State your case and have others that have not had a problem with you post stating that they have had no problems with you.

5- If you play a game with a person AFTER they have been added to the list, please post about it. If someone you added to the list has improved, please remove them from this list.

This list is to HELP the community. If I see that it is having the opposite effect I will have a moderator delete it. So please, lets keep it civil.

I believe Fazman has had some ISP troubles, I've been playing a game with him that's made it to late '45 by now and usually we'd get several turns done in a day, but at some point his ISP started sending "Non-Deliverable" mails back to me. I don't think he'd intentionally stall/quit - he was winning our game :p

Fazzmans dissipearing is certainly a mystery. He replaced my original opponent in the tournement and played steady for a couple weeks then I also got the 'recipients mailbox is full' messages. He emailed me one Sunday morning and said he would get the 2 turns he owed me out that day and I have not heard anything from him since.

agree, a real mystery!!

i got a 2v2 game with him last month and imo, he's a committed player ... and the game ended only due to the disappearing of another player.

hope he's ok .... and get the ISP problem fixed soon.

end of the mystery ... Fazman has already posted a thread to tell us the sad story ... [:(]

his name should be taken OUT from the deadbeat list!

Definately. Fazman has explained his disappearance, and absolutley should not be on this list.

Rather than have a deadbeat list, which is clearly always going to run the risk of making the kind of shameful mistake that was made in Fazman's case, why not:

a) Have a positive list instead, where good players are recommended rather than supposedly 'bad' ones demonised

or

b) At least drop the insulting language - 'deadbeat'. Some people who cause problems in game may indeed be deadbeats, others may have ISP problems, real life problems etc. I'm sure as hell not willing to judge them, WaW ain't that important.

I have been thinking about the same thing Svend. However, having a list of players that are good about doing turns, wont help alert people about those that dont do their turns.

As for the title, I can change that........ any suggestions?

Thanks Scott, I actually worried about this before Faz made his post. I wish I had said something earlier now. I'm not sure I have the answer, but something neutral would suffice I believe, such as:

Non-Respondant list
Missing-In-Action list

The MIA list sounds better. Not indicative of wrong doing, just the info that for some reason or another they arent actively doing their current turns.
