European clash: EESTI (String) vs. CROATIA (pauk)

Post by pauk »

Time has come for me to display my shame in public. I, as the most unfotunate Japan fanboy in the world, go against String. We chose standard scenario 15 with some common house rules

This is just the begining, so there isn't much to say. I will use the usual (orthodox) strategy, with some nasty surprises up my sleeve for my esteemed opponent. Can't disclose more about the surprises at the moment for security reasons, not that I don't know what they are [;)]

And now a small rant about the PH strike. It went home with no surprises, which, in my case, means no BB's were sunk, and what is even worse I bet none of them has SYS damage even close to 70. This is becoming a standard bad PH strike result for me, same as in all previous 6 games. In all 6 strikes I've sunk just one (1) US batleship!!! What is most interesting in this particular case is that only Kate Daitais to launch torpedoes were the ones that started the game understrength??? I smell anti-IJN in game conspiracy [:'(]

Remaining operations went smoothly (Lingayen, Vigan, Cagayan, Davao, Kuching, Khota Baru, Wake and Tarawa). There were some strikes against my invasion fleets by the pathetic Allied Air with no result, off course [:'(]

Well, I have little to say, I've yet to complete my orders for turn 2. However I expect to give my esteemed opponent (whose forum nick means something quite rude in estonian slang [:'(] ) some nasty surprises too. [:D]

One question though, how come the vildebeests dropped bombs even though they were flying from 1 hex range and level 4 airfield?

hah! i was expecting propaganda war at the begining, so why don't you say what pauk means in estonian? Maybe you will get banned from the forum.[:'(]

(in croatian means spider).

And for a vildebeests, i will share a secret with you:

I believe it works for all torpedo bombers...

Hmm, that doesn't really explain why the vildebeests flew but dropped bombs instead of torpedoes. But whatever, i guess there just wasn't enough torpedoes in the base at that moment... as for "pauk".. it either means "bang" or in the other case.. sperm..

Should be interesting [8D]

Seems like you damaged most of the big ships in the Pacific Fleet Pauk. At least you don't have
to worry about them for a while.

Good luck guys...and may the best fanboy win!

Those pilots who survived bloody encounter over Kuatan skies reported presence of AVG. Well, i was expecting this, but not so early. American mercenaries slaughtered my mini KB air groups, but i can assure you, operation Ish-go will dislodge this annoying "flying rats". Soon, very soon.

Allies pretends playing aggressively defence, but they already paid price at the Lingayen waters.

Vigan, Cayagan, Davao is now in the japanese hands. Invasion on Jolo started. China is quiet, for now.

Pfft.. what an awfully long combat report.

The only thing important was actually the torpedoing of several japanese transports off Kuching and the annihilation of the carrier air cover at Kuantan. Everything else was unimportant and most likely japanese propaganda [:D]

Image

P-40B Tomahawks at Singapore airfield

Now actually I had hoped more from my little foray at Lingayen but apparently allied crews just can't shoot straight

...

and the 6 BB's conducting bombardment at Kuantan really scared me.

Another eventful turn. Operations go well, but my main operation failed! I was aware that his force Z could attack my invasion fleet near Kuching. Actually, i planed a trap for him.
ORIGINAL: String

and the 6 BB's conducting bombardment at Kuantan really scared me.
Thats why i allowed you to see 6 BB's at Kuatan

Most of Kuching invasion force was evacuated, all LBA were alerted. As I expected, String attacked this small reamining decoy fleet at the Kuching. Ok, we know String is tough and clever player, but you certantly dont know he is lucky guy. From now i will call him a Felix.

My naval search did not found force Z in the morning phase. Latter, Z was found near Kuching but my idiot (don't worry they are already dead) LBA leaders decide that some non-combat ships are more valuable then certain force Z. Phew[X(]! Well, Felix got this round.

Kuching and Jolo are liberated! Airfields are operational.

First actions in the China. My units starts besige of the Yenen. String attacking Nanning.

Felix certaintly wasn't believe me when i said that Kuching was unsuccessful trap for his fleet. Well, he learned in hard way that i never lie[8D]. My well protected invasion fleet at Jolo spanked his remakable SF TF.

It seems that his units in Malaya running into a Singapore. Expected decision. I would also take advantage of moronic river assault rule, another anti-IJ conspiracy [;)]
IJAAF bombed Chinese units at Naning and Yenen, While Chinese Air Force score some minor hits on my transport ships near Lingayen with no real damage. Liberating of Philippines wil start soon.

One AP is also hit at the Khota Baru. Japanese intel caught MacArthurs message to his superiors:

"Moral of my units in the Philippines dramaticaly droping due to presence of Chinese communist airforce. My officers already reported they are already executed some deserters. If you dont recall those commies, i will nuke the China! Oh, wait, i have to wait few more years for that request..."

Makin liberated.

Trap.. heh.. I knew perfectly well that you had atleat two heavy cruisers there. It was just that the american ship crews couldn't shoot straight.

In other news, operation Bitchslap is continuing nicely

I absolutely support your so-called operation!

If anybody reads this AAR, i would appriciate little help from you. I am unable to divide my air groups. On turn 1 i done it, two groups were divided, but after that divide button simply dissapeared??? Seems that leader bug also wasn't fixed. recently i sunk one allied aux. ship and i got message "LCDR Hirano is killed).

Bad weather in Malaya flying. Since i know "flying rats" are stationated in Singapore, i'm not complaining. I will have all size 4 AF on Malaya peninsula soon.

Felix tried to take Nanning, but i already reinforce base. Yeah, i know, he will say "I know it perfectly well".

Silent service gears up its operations while the japanese merchant fleet sinks under waves.

Now to be honest I've only played scenario 15 once in PBEM (luckily from allied side) .. all my other PBEM's have been scenario 13's. My last fight was vs a very cautious set of opponents in the first 3vs3 PBEM. My planes sunk very very few merchants there.

my young esteemed opponent is humble guy. He is very good at the moment.

Operation Ish-go was completely dissaster - no airplanes or ships are catched in the Singapore. Do not try this at home! Mogami sunk, but her sacrifice allowed Haruna to escape. She will be ok.

I can proudly announce that his air attacks over the Lingayen are history. My IJN air forces humiliated american untermenchs. Two elite daitai decimated String forces (IIRC there was 30 and more ac destroyed in the air battle over the Lingayen). Legaspi, Alor Star and Tuguegarao (all bases falls without fighting) are in japanese hands now. Allies digs in Clark Field, and continuing flee to Singapore.

I must admit, the japanese visit to the 14" guns at Singapore was a pleasant surprise. We invite them again, however the air massacre at Luzon was not.

Brave japanese soldiers advancing steady towards Singapore. Malacca will fall soon. Similar situation in the Philippines, Americans have only two major bases, Clark and Manila.
I must confese, my main real problem that i can not play on high level in all aspects of the game. This time i focused on ASW where i have good result for now (two american subs are sunk, several others seriously damaged, with no loses on my side!). But i have pay the price in other areas. Doesn't matter, I have plenty of transports left!

RE: do not try this at home!

Post by String »

My esteemed opponent continues to push on very agressively but also pays the price. Another CA out of action for some time (along with the other one damaged in his illfated singapore raid). I wonder if he dares to approach singapore with his light carriers.

OH well.. I guess the KB is on its way too.. ready to make life hell in SRA

force Z shows again...

Post by pauk »

This turn things for IJ Navy getting even worse. He ambushed me at Tarakan with remarkable Z force, and my CL is home for the sharks now. Fortunatly, all precious DD's escaped safely. My forces advance to the Rangoon. He wasn't spoted IJA forces approaching Rangoon from Reahang until now. Two colonial regiments tried to escape from Moulmein, but they encounter a part of Imperial Guards Division. But, i don't expect will be able to trap his forces in the Rangoon.

Anyway, this game is really enjoyable, and i'm pretty sure String also enjoy (don't need to explain why[:D]).

Oh, yes, don't guess where is my KB. Prediction is dangerous in this game....
