PBEM Question

I am sure this has been asked before but I am going to ask it again. I am considering this game but only if the PBEM works well.

What do you give up in a PBEM game? I am pretty sure the tactical battles. How does it work and do you get generally believable results? What else. Thanks

The PBEM system executes the turn after spain is done? The results are in the events log. You do not get to see the actual movements on the map, just the results. Combat is done with ultra quick combat, that is you do not get to setup combat in quick combat and there is no support for detailed combat. This is a compromise to allow faster play in the PBEM world. If every battle required the file to go to the players involved for setup of battle and then execution the turns would take forever. In a Eight player game they already take a long time. You will just have to trust that all events worked out as they should.

So far I can say that things have worked out very well in the two PBEM games I have going. One think I will point out is that you need to set your aggressiveness policy carefully. If you choose to be aggressive to a nation then expect that you will become the protector (and thus as war) for a nation attacked by the agressive nation. So as Prussia I was aggressive to Turkey and when turkey declared war on cyrencia, I got to be the protector and in a war with Turkey, no questions asked not answer need. This is just an example.

I think this is a great game for PBEM, even better if you play on line, as you get to fight detailed battles against each other. I would recommend it.
