Demand goods

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Demand goods

Post by Uxbridge »

Wouldn't it be nice if one could demand/sell goods as payment for a treaty. It could work simply as a normal payment, with the exception that you had a number of bars representing, for example, the conquered nations surplus of goods. Then you could chose those items that you thought yourself in demand of.

Due to transport limitations it would be unrealistic to simply change a very large pile of goods in short time, but if it was delivered in increments, created, maybe, by dividing the amount of goods by the number of months of the treaty, it would be another matter. It could then be handled technically as any trade agreement between two nations, save the fact that a discontinuation of delivery were to be regarded as a treaty violation.

To stop players from bypassing the normal trade system (I change 200 textiles for 100 horses), only one of the signing nation should be allowed to use this clause for each treaty.

Yeah, I had the same thought while browsing the national status screen and I saw my victim had only two hundred bucks in the bank but a full inventory of goods. I would rather have taken their precious spice. Ahh sweet sweet melange....
