Aggressive policy

If you have your policy toward a nation set as aggressive, does it automatically detract a points value from your relationship?

Some nations seem to get angry at you for no reason at all. You don't share a common border, you don't deny them any request they make, yet their face will eventually go more sour as the game progresses.

I know trading with them gives you positive points in a relationship...but heck, I get tired of initiating trades.

And the old trade expert...I've never seen him do more than two a turn. And this despite the fact that some minister or another is catterwauling about a lack of wine, spice, or luxuries. Heck, I need a private sector!

Any ideas/advice?

I thought that the attitude settings only related to PBEM[&:] - can anyone confirm?

Almost everything in the Policy Screen is for PBEM only. The trading options work if you're playing single player (or TCP/IP mplayer...or hotseat) and you've got your Trade Expert turned on.

Even in PBEM your Policy settings don't affect attitude.
