Mega-Campaign crash

Post by Stvitus2002 »

Is there a way to save a Mega-campaign scenario without backing completely out of the scenario? In regular scenarios i usually save after every turn, doing this limits the damage caused by random crashes.
In MC LV, Dubno scenario, i played about 10 turns before a crash immediately after i destroyed a russian truck. I've seen this type of crash before, but again, i can usually limit the damage to 1 turn by saving after every turn. This can be a pain with the MC's,since the save button is disabled.
I've read somewhere that this type of crash:after knocking out an enemy tank/truck is a memory issue?

Now that you mention it, all of my crashes have occured after blowing up a truck!

What I have started doing is making back up copies of my save files and storing them in a seperate folder. In addition I save (back out of the game) about once per hour and make a new back up copy of this file. Others have mentioned that the game can become unstable after too much play.

The reason for the back up files is that some crashes may cause a corruption of the save file and not let you reload your last (and only) save. If this happens (happened to me 10 scenarioes in to MCLV) just delete the save file and copy one of your back ups into the MC save directory. It is a hassle but it is good insurance against losing hours of game play.

I don't have Lost Victories myself, but is Dubno a particularly large scenario? I'm thinking possible memory leak...

Could be. Several of the early scenarios are large maps with a lot of Russian tanks and trucks.

And it only takes one wrong or missing line of code to cause a leak...

The map is big. It's a meeting engagement between large mech. forces(those KV's can give you ulcers)[:@]

I think i'll take you're advice & create a backup save-file.
In addition to backing out of the scenario every 3-4 turns to limit crash damage.

The new mech will let you save.
