Upgrades

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Upgrades

Post by jhdeerslayer »

In PBEM's I have going I notice that I have more Upgrade chosen/listed than I have points available. e.g. Upgrades point may say 6.09 but I have eight in the "list" already.

Does this mean I already have all eight or does this mean the last two on the list are already picked for me when the Upgrade points reach 7 and 8?

Do upgrades work in PBEM?

Is this when the scenario starts?

If so, all these upgrades are active, and you will have to develope your barracks/culture to 9 or more to get another upgrade.

I do not think upgrades work in PBEM.

Yes, from the start.

I hope you're wrong about PBEM as that is frightening!

This is the first I'd heard that upgrades weren't being prompted in PBEM... I'll look into this for the next patch.

Yes I can confirm in pbem you are simply given the upgrade and aren't allowed to choose. Hope it gets fixed.

Guess there's no reason to build Barracks and Culture in PBEM except for their other benefits. [&:]

In a currrent PBEM, Spain let me (France) know that at the end of his turn he received the prompts for France's upgrade and for France "becoming an empire". So it is happening out of turn. I assume that if you have an AI before your turn, it might be clicking things for you!

This is what is happening in my game. The wrong player is getting the upgrade prompt.

But is anyone actually getting any upgrades? Has anyone become an empire? I have not seen it happen yet, admittedly the furthest we have progressed is only, two years 7 months in any of the games that I am taking part in, but I would have expected at least one upgrade or empire to have been implemented by now, certainly several of the nations have empire scores over 20, but no one has declared empire status yet....

Yes. I (France) became an empire in like turn 5 (after the Spanish player pressed Yes), and had a chance at an upgrade but the Spanish player pressed cancel!

In the 4 player game we are playing I am Russia and have picked 2 upgrades and Empire status for France so it is working but out of turn for him. As Russia I now should have two more upgrades but have received NONE.

This is very frustrating as building my infrastructure and army is a key part of my early wars strategy.

In two PBEM we are in years two and three, still no upgrades to any nation... these are 3 and 4 human player games.

We're currently testing moving the upgrade/empire choice to the end of a player's turn -- in that small bit of time after he hits the end-turn button and before his turn actually ends. Hopefully this will resolve any PBEM issues with these features.

How about Protectorate pop-ups in pbem? When a minor asks a player controlled nation to become a protectorate when does that occur?

If the minor has an enemy, it depends on your "aggressiveness" setting in SET POLICY with regard to that nation (ie the enemy). [But note my earlier post about the columns being a bit wonky at the moment.]

If the minor does not have any enemies, you automatically accept.

Thanks Ralegh.

I think the whole Upgrade thing in pbem now is broken. I am in one game as Spain and France is getting prompted for Upgrades at the end of my turn but noone else. In another as France I seem to be getting my Upgrades choosen by the last human player (Russia) but again noone else is getting theirs or even prompted it seems. I hope this important feature is fixed in the next patch.

Isn't this the same bug that was reported almost two months ago?

http://www.matrixgames.com/default.asp? ... m%3D893867
While testing the PBEM game i stubled upon this bug:
After ending the turn for SPAIN,
i get to choose the National upgrade for FRANCE,
and to choose if FRANCE want to become an empire...
i have the save file if you want
