The Battle for Hesse

Post by Hard Sarge »

finally noticed, that I am allied with Prussia, so no sense sitting in there lands (almost everybody is at war with me, forgot they liked me)

so I spot the enemy troops that got away from me, time to end there service to there motherland

Hesse is a Protectorate of Aus, and is home to over 100,000 troops

so I plan on sending two Armies into battle

of course, best laid plans and all

one Army moves in and battle is joined, 105,000 Aus, vs 50,000 French

and to make matters worse, it is the weak Army that made it, and there is a big hill line in the way, and it is snowing

if they have any many troops as the reports state, and as many Cav Divs as I fear, this could become nasty, the snow weakens my firepower, the blizzard, cuts my range and weakens me even more

I do not have enough troops to protect what little Arty I do have, and not enough Cav to counter or hammer on any weaken Inf troops

that hill makes it HARD to form a battle line

ahhh, yes, a lot of Cav and even worst I am already flanked, but my troops are nearly full, so I will have to split them and spread them out

at least the blizzard has stopped and just in time

the Hill !, it blocks half of my lines of fire !!!!

my early set up, also blocks my fire, but have to have the troops in place before I worry about moving my Cav

one good charge can ruin my line, so the blockers have to stay in place

the Inf Div I am worried about, that has flanked me the deepest, is shattered, with one cannon blast, 7000 men go down, which it also looked like it was the biggest of the enemy Inf Divs

I call for reinforcements, 65,000 men are rushing to my rescue

once my defence is set, it is hammer time, still a lot of back and forth with the enemy Cav trying to break a hole in my defence

(if his setup had been the other way around, it would of been very HARD to defend, if the Cav had come in from the south, while his Inf came in from the west, I would not of been able to hold out)

and to put the Cherry on top, I even got a New Commander out of the battle, and even better, it is a Corp commander !

Baravia asks me to become there protector, Hesse falls, a new Leader is made, and the main Army of Aus is crushed, a good month
