Unexpected Error: 3021

Post by kmac »

Good evening - I've been playing PureSim 2005 for about 2 months now and have completed 18 seasons - I love it! However, for some reason tonight, I finished another season and was hit with "Unexpected Error: 3021" - I finished the season, went through the draft, the free agent period, and was about enter spring training when "Unexpected Error: 3021" popped up - I can't continue past the error - I can't access anything! - any suggestions?? Thanks in advance for your time and effort!

There should be a file with the same name as your assn but with a backup_x extension. Rename your current assn to have a .sav extension then find the newest one of those backups and rename it to have a .psa extension. See if you can load and work with that one.

Also could you do me a huge favor and send me the latest backup as mentioned above? You can zip it up and send it using www.sendthisfile.com send to shaunsullivan@bellsouth.net

Thanks.

Take the backup file and rename it to The PureSim Shareware Association.PSA

I didn't realize you were running the shareware version...

That is pretty old.

I didn't realize it was an older version - I downloaded it from download.com a couple of months ago - isn't the name of the backup file already The PureSim Shareware Association.PSA? I posted the info about the files exactly as they are on my computer - they're exactly the way they appear in my previous post as they're on my computer - thanks!

No, windows is just not showing you the backup extension. Select the one that is listed as "BACKUP" and rename it to .psa

Sean,

I changed the "BACKUP" file to .psa and nothing happens - I still can't load the Shareware Association - and to make matters worse, the other Association I was playing (the new American Baseball Association) was also hit with the dreaded "Unexpected Error: 3021" - it happens in the same spot as The PureSim Shareware Association - this time, expansion came through, the post-expansion free agent period was completed, then the beginning of spring training was about to begin when "Unexpected Error: 3021" popped up again - I sent you the The PureSim Shareware Association file via SendThisFile.com - I'll send the American Baseball Association backup, as well - this stinks, man - the game is great - should I just wait for the Gold Edition from Matrix games to come out? Thanks!

I'm sure your issue has been fixed in the current (non shareware) version of the game. What you are playing with is a very old version.

You mentioned expansion, so the error only happens after an expansion?

I'll try your backup, but you might want to try running with a more recent release of the game (though that will only help on an association where you didn't see this error).

Here is a link for the last public, official release of PureSim before I moved on to The Gold Edition:

OK, I got your file and the good news is I made it through an expansion period without error using the code I have. So, my only suggestion would be to either attempt it with 8.2 (I didn't get a chance to test that), and also clear any locked roles you have for players where you have certain players locked in certain slots in the lineup. I think there was a 3021 back 8-9 months ago around that area and that is the version of the game you would have.

Otherwise I can at least state with confidence that you won't see this error in PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition when it is released.

Thanks for trying the game and for taking the time to send me the association file.

Shaun,

Thanks for the new link - everything seemed to go through okay with 8.21! - both my Associations seem to be in good working order now - as for locked roles, you're saying I shouldn't have ANY players locked into their roles, or just their certain slots in Boston's lineup? Should I delete ALL the lock roles for batters and pitchers? Thanks for the clarification[:)]

Another question - if I buy PureSim now, will I be grandfathered into the Gold Edition like this previous thread stated?

Thanks for all your help - I really do appreciate it! [&o]

Kevin

PS: Oops about spelling your name 'Sean' - I work for a guy name Sean - guess it's a habit [;)]
