Winter War 1940 RedII Vs Ironfist

Post by Ironfist738 »

Turn 7, Clear Snow Jan.1940 The Russian Army has advanced quickly to secure the points per turn V-hexs. Mean while Finish AA-guns and 47mm AT-guns have dug-in on the hill tops, Visiblity is 40 + . Skitroops, Calvary Units and Vickers 6 ton Light tanks have taken the fight to the enemy. Even though they are out numbered 3 to one, They have caused heavy casualties, Infantry regrouping in the north from a surprise attack last turn, Calvary and Armor stablizing the front to the south, All Hells breaking loose in the center. I think the Soviets are trying to over run the Fins with fast light armor units. No Infantry support seen with the Armor group. 82mm and 120 mm Mortor fire from Soviets rear area. atleast 10-15 BT-7's have been killed the last two turns. Our losses are only a few (3-4). Welcome to White Death. [&o]

This is cool. Love the photos. Looks like the bad guys got their just desserts. Irondude, are you playing a human or AI? I'm gonna start a SP campaign as Finland against the Soviets sometime. Great fun!

If you are really interested, I recommend a book called "The Winter War" by William R. Trotter. Its one of the best military history books I've ever read. Lots of tactics and scrapping among the frozen forests.

Hehe, I bet the vodka buddies inside that tank in the crater are still camped out too scared to come out. Irondude, I will email you now. Thanks for the game offer and winter war link. I want to play as the Russians 8.4 to try and experience their anguish at being slaughtered. I like to use a balanced combined arms force to provide my opponent with an alround turkey shoot. Please note that I've never played by email before so I'm getting mentally prepared to see my vodka buddies being butchered by the Finnish guns. Should be fun.

Turn 18
Finish troops unable to stop KV-1's just not enough firepower. BA-10's and BT-2m32's starting to drive my men back. Fin cavalry control the counrty side. They're just moving around at will. Soviets have retaken the Northern and Southern V-Hexs. We still hold the Center. Our artillery is keeping the Infantry surpressed. This battle could still go either-way. 12 turns left.
