CHS questions

Post by BlackVoid »

A few questions regarding CHS.
1. Does it address sub detection (which seems too easy in the stock game in 1.60)?
2. Does it reduce ASW effectiveness?
3. Does it lower repair rates for 4E bombers?
4. In the big campaign, do I get a better distribution of AP/AK for Japan? In the stock game, there are no ships at many ports where there are significant ground forces.

Thanks!

CHS does not re-write any code. CHS is an OOB rewrite. So as for questions 1-3 unless previous editions sought to tweak ASW values on ships by reducing depth charge racks (which I doubt) then CHS does not address those issues.

As for question 4, you get the historical distribution of Japanese shipping. If that means certain significant ground forces start in hexes with insufficient shipping then you'll just have to move transports there....the 4th, 21st and 33rd divisions come to mind.

2. CHS reduces effect of ASW weapons by giving armour to subs based on their diving test depth (IIRC). It effects so that now every attacks that hit is not automatic kill.

The Effect and Accuracy of ASW weapons has also been reduced by 50%.

Subs do stand a better chance to survive now but it's still not enough IMHO.

this option is available when you have more planes then pilots. most probably you still have "no replacement" set on your datai/chutai. once it is is set to "allow replacemets" next turn you should get more planes (if you have some available) and it will be possible manually add more pilots.

When an air group has the same number of planes as is has of pilots, there will be no "get pilot" button. It's not greyed out, it isn't there at all.

Look for an air group that has 27 planes but 26 or fewer pilots. You should then see the "get pilot" button. The button only appears if you have FEWER pilots than planes in a group.
The older I get, the better I was.

Perhaps you have accidentally installed an old version of the EXE? The Get New Pilot feature only appeared in 1.50 IIRC.

I have the game installed twice on my PC. One is the standard matrix version and the other is Andrews map and CHS. Standard version, If an air unit does not have less pilots than planes The Get Pilots button is light grey to show that it will not add pilots. Andrews map and CHS The Get Pilots button does not show in the same situation. I will try to reinstall 1.50 update again. Thanks

I only have one version of the game installed, version 1.602. I have my map and CHS art installed as well. I just loaded a saved CHS 1.02 game I was running. Whenever an air unit has fewer pilots than planes I can use the "get pilot" button and it works. For most air units that have as many pilots as planes the get pilot text is grey and there is no button. However for some units that have as many pilots as planes the text is not grey and the button is present, just as for units with too few pilots. In these cases pressing the button adds a pilot as well. I don't know why this can be done for some units, but apart from that oddity the button seems to be working normally for me.

All airplane units, with more planes than pilots, with the same numbers, with more piltos than planes... nothing, no button (to push or in grey desactivated...)

And with allow replacements manually activated.

The only thing that I I can think of is that you are not properly patched from WitP v1.4. You need to install patch v1.5 the v1.6 then v 1.602

Not that any of those will help because the game will still be buggy.[:@]
