Help with B-29 squadrons with no pilots - ANYBODY????

Post by Dereck »

Sorry for duplicate post but I'm trying to put this where the most people see it so I can maybe get an answer eventually:

I'm playing with version 1.3 and have received about 16 B-29 squadrons yet none of them have pilots. I have over 400 pilots in my pilot pool so what's up?

I have just checked and 3 B-24 Liberator squadrons I received at the same time as the 16 B-29s AND 6 new B-29 squadrons on the west coast all have planes but no pilots. Can anybody tell me why I'm getting squadrons without pilots?

I resolved another turn and my Army pilot replacement pool dropped from about 420 down to 128 BUT the B-29 squadrons haven't taken on any new pilots. I have some squadrons with only a leader and others with not even a leader.

I also have all the squadrons set to training with 100% in hopes of drawing replacements there.

I checked my last 7 days for army pilot replacements and got this:

13 July 1944 - 1492
14 July 1944 - 1457
15 July 1944 - 1433 <-- Day 12 B-29 and 3 B-24 squadrons arrived
16 July 1944 - 1160
17 July 1944 - 729
18 July 1944 - 460
19 July 1944 - 148
20 July 1944 - 7
21 July 1944 - 7
22 July 1944 - 6

Also, I have not been conducting large scale air attacks and at most I've been getting maybe 6 or 8 planes lost each day for operational losses so WHY the army pilot drain all of a sudden?

PLEASE someone help.

With B-29s it must be late in the war. The maximum number of pilots available is 30,000 (total for all sides). If the number of aircraft in active squadrons exceed that the "extra" aircraft do not get pilots.

But will that cause my pilot replacement pool to drop from 1492 down to 6 in just 10 turns?

I can imagine that it might, if all these squadrons are pulling pilots every turn, and there is no space left in the database to store them. You'd burn through them right quick.

There's' no way I know of. Maybe Frag could do it for your game, and for others as needed. If he or any other mod were here, that is.[8|]

After over a year I'm about ready to give up on this piece of crap game right now. When they were doing patches they were so worried about adding new features instead of working on fixing bugs and now it's too damn late.

I think it's time to upgrade past 1.3. That is so far back that I'm afraid no one will be able to offer meaningful advice.

I stopped upgrading because I was against the way they neutralized the allied players with cutting back on bombing accuracy, etc (all that favored the Japanes).

The problem from what I've been told is a hard-coded 30,000 pilot limit which INCLUDES even pilots who have been "killed". If they would provide a stand-alone utility players could run to clear out dead pilots that would solve the problem.

Since things are a little bit desperate, try to do both. It's some work, but it won't take long.

1. Save the game files
2. Load a second copy of the game in a different folder.
3. Update the second copy to 1.6 standard (I think you can get a fresh download to that standard, if not just start loading patches).
4. move your save to the new version and play a couple of turns and see what happens. It will certainly solve the B29 pilot problem (just hit the new pilot button 600 times)

The problem is that no Dev would even look at the save unless it produced the same, reproducable problem with the current version.

The 30,000 hardcoded limit exists in ALL versions Pompack. Since in my game I've accululated a total of 21,285 acraft losses for both sides I've filled up all the available pilot slots so I get planes but no pilots.

This is something EVERYBODY has the possibility of running up against.

I apparently had the pilot problem in my match against Zeta16. Zeta16 also has reported shortages. The match is in 1945.

If this 30,000 limit is hardcoded I'm wondering how that affects custom made scenarios where either new squadrons or new ships with aircraft are added.

This is definitely a game stopper after committing so much time to a game like this.

Have you been able to overcome it anyway or has it been a game-stopper?

Same problem.
I'm at 10/44 and the japan airfields are cluttered with air Groups without pilots.
there's no way to resurrect the pilots ?
After six months of play it's a pity to suspend the game.

Witp standard scenario ver 1.60

thanks
