This model was built in 1861 & ran aground, an improved version was built in 1862, the Navy made more improvements in 1863, it sunk being towed off Cape Hatteras on April 2, 1863



There looking for this boat, pictured, that ran aground in the Rancocs Creek, about 20 miles from me.
