Extended Brown Map...ships getting stuck

Post by worr »

I have ships in the brownish grey area where they shouldn't be. I don't know how they got there...looks like they ran aground, but I cannot send them orders. Any work arounds on this? Or do you just hope for the best?

My guess is my opponent, the IJN player, used the nonextended map on one of our turns. I'm guessing that because as the IJN player you really wouldn't notice you loaded up the wrong map, also you created the 001 file on your end that delivers the problem to the other player. At least this is my theory. So theoretically you should be able to redeem the ships again by using the non extended map...but what else will that mess up?

I think your guess is correct (I assume that you have checked your map data and it is OK?). Because it isn't possible to edit saved games, I think the only way out is to do as you mention - play with the non-extended map until all of the affected TFs are out of the prohibited zones. You will need to make sure that no more TFs sail INTO the areas during this time. Also, when using the non-extended map, you will not be able to load troops and aircraft onto ships at the Middle East and Panama ports, or move LCUs around in those areas.

After all of the affected TFs are "freed", switch to the extended map and make sure you are both using it.

FYI, I have had 3 allied ships locked in the "saragosa sea" just south of Aden since installing the extended maps, and I stopped trying to move them after about maybe 2 weeks (gametime).
They are a permanent reef, but I can live without those 3 ships.
This is a solo game, and the problem might have even been the result of a power surge.

Try the non extended map for a couple turns...it worked for me.
