Supply Questions

Post by mcaryf »

I am on my third game of GGWAW and as I am being the SU, I thought I would try switching on advanced supply. I have auto supply on for everybody and supply help set as 50 for everybody but the SU. I now have a number of queries based on my observations of what is happening.

1) I assume that the supply help 50 generates additional supplies for the sides for which it is set. How much additional supply is there and where should it appear?

2) Might the additional supply or lend lease explain how China appears to have nearly 700 supply units by Summer 1943? I guess if their entire production went to supply (which it hasn't as they have planes as well) then it would not have made those units themselves. I have looked back over some saves and never spotted WALLIES supply in Mandalay which I would think it had to be as a preliminary after strategic movement if the supply came via Lend Lease.

3) I understand that a DOW costs 5 supply points - where would this be taken from?

4) I presume that infrastructure repairs are taken from the nearest available (with auto supply), but does this mean with auto supply off that you cannot repair the infrastructure in regions taken by tanks 2 regions forward?

hi, let see whether i can help:

1) yes, 50 supplies are generated but im not sure where and how (one lump sum or evenly distributed ...) exact they are generated;
2) must be as CHN dont have such production power to build such a stock pile of supplies. assuming no active action btw CHN and JP and u didnt miss some huge lend-lease shippments by WA, 13 turns x 50 = 650 supplies + the stock pile at the beg of the game, it should be close to 700 supplies;
3) i think u mean DOW on neutrals, right? i think it cost sth like 10 and 5 supplies for WA and RUS respectively to attack neutral. the supplies are drawn in the same way as it is for unit movement/attack;
4) at a min, u have to move the supplies manually to the area adj to the area with the infrastructure. in ur case, assuming u hold the area where the armor travel thro' (the "Area A"), u can move the supplies to Area A to complete the repair. but my advise is, set auto supply off, as its always better to do it yourself.

hope it helps.

1: I am not certain - I only use that when playing against the AI and its so weak that it doesnt really matter where the supply is to me.

2: Thats clearly from bonus supply.

3: Its 5 for Axis but 10 for Allies as far as I recall. There is currently a bug so that it sometimes cost up to 75 though. At any rate the supplies come from the nearest area (in case of a tie I am uncertain). I know it can be extremely importent too.

4: You have to move the supply close enough manually to pay for the repair.
