Problem with 1.2.14

Post by paulferris1964 »

After loading screen, message that indeo codecs needed to run video are not installed and I'm directed to the Indeo site at

http://www.ligos.com/indeo.htm

where I'm informed that the necessary codecs are not installed with Win XP SP2 and asked to pay $14.95 to download them......some mistake, surely?

Game crashes if I click on the option to continue. Have renamed my video file to prevent videos loading, but hardly a satisfactory solution.

Thanks

This is a new problem with 1.2.14? Works properly with 1.2.13?

I can't imagine any change in the .exe files that would affect the codecs installed on your system, so my suspicion is that something went wrong during the install. Would you mind very much doing a fresh install and seeing if that doesn't solve the problem?

If this doesn't solve the problem, would you mind checking to see if you can play the AVI files in your copy of Windows Media Player 9.0+?

In case anyone researching this bug hits this thread, the workaround is to rename the files in the cog\videos folder - then you get a dialog box instead of the videos, but nothing "fails".

This is particularly relevent to people playing inside a VirtualPC or VMWare system.
