Another bunch of questions...

Post by two_larsens »

When playing Sweden, I have on occasion taken a province where, for instance, Austria already have claim, leading to a criss cross pattern of both brown and blue across the province. How can I change that to solid color (ownership).

Also, sometimes the options under some countries appear limited. For instance, if I want to declare war on Spain, it simply doesn't give me the option. Only offer of alliance and such, which was hardly what I wanted. It seems to be like that with several countries.

At some point in the game there were a couple of English generals in one of my provinces. I was at war with England, and after a while it said that the generals had been captured - both as it were. Anyway, does that mean I can use these?

On occasion it seems that there are some provinces that are very difficult to even get to Insurrect. Is that the case, or is it coincidental?

How do you trade provinces. I have read in this forum that it is possible, but don't see where and how. Is it the Cede Province option? Also, what is important to the AI, in such a case. Is it the inter country relationship, or simply what is being offered.

Can you cause Insurrection in a province under a single flag? I just wondered what happened to the Danish flags after I took Jutland and Zeeland.

Just a thought... It would be a good option if you could trade POW's at some point. I know it kind of cancels each other out, but still offloading POW's would be a rather good thing at some point - for money, or simply between generals and units.
- It would also have been a good option to be able to appeal to an ally for help, in case of invasion - both between player and the AI. Just another thought...

Great game though, and thanks to anyone taking the time to answer some of these questions.

Answering what I can here...

This is happening because of your relations with that or other Nations. In your example, it is likely that both your Nation and Spain were at war with the same enemy. I encountered that as Russia, wanting to go to war with Sweden only to find that since we both were at war with France, I could not.

At some point in the game there were a couple of English generals in one of my provinces. I was at war with England, and after a while it said that the generals had been captured - both as it were. Anyway, does that mean I can use these?

You cannot use captured Generals. Are you sure they were captured? I think they can just walk home.

On occasion it seems that there are some provinces that are very difficult to even get to Insurrect. Is that the case, or is it coincidental?

I have been able to insurrect many provices, but some have taken much longer. The most likely modifier to this would be the degree of favor the minor holds to the Nation that currently owns it. My guess (just a guess) is that a province of France that was taken by Turkey, for example, would be easier to insurrect by France, since that province would have low loyalty to Turkey. Sometimes you just have less luck.

Yes using the cede provinces treaty mechanism.

Thanks for answering the questions. As for the generals, then it said in a message box that they had been captured. Before that they had a single large English flag, but after the message popped up, the flag changed to Swedish, and a small English flag nested besides it - like when provinces change hands.

Good job Russian Guard - I'll grab the rest

After the war, you make him cede it to you. This behaviour seems a little random in 1.1 - hopefully in 1.2 you will know what to expect (whether something willbe conquered or just occupied).

At some point in the game there were a couple of English generals in one of my provinces. I was at war with England, and after a while it said that the generals had been captured - both as it were. Anyway, does that mean I can use these?
They became POWs, and you can move them around. They will revert to their owner at the end of the war.

Probably not, but I am not sure. This is an area of bug I am still arguing with Eric about: well, I think you should be able to turn these ceded provinces back into protectorates, or even free them, while the game wont let you.
