When importing historical players, not all the years for that player are available. Best example is Babe Ruth. Cannot get 1921 or 1930 to import. Is there a fix?

There was an issue with sandbox mode players that appeard as pitchers and fielders in the same season and had more games as a fielder. This is fixed for the public release.

When importing players from the Lahman d-base with Gold 1.1, it is taking at least twice as long to import the player as it did with PS2005 and 2005 Gold. I noticed that the database updates from a 55 MB file to a 77 MB file when converted into 1.1. I would expect increased performance at the cost of 20+ megs, not a backwards step.

Can this be repaired? It would almost be worthwhile for me to d-load the players into a PS 2005 association, record all of their ratings, then change a fictional player's name & ratings in Gold 1.1 to match what I don't want to wait about three minutes to receive via import.

I am seeing the same thing with import time, but running into RTE 3021, then when I click ok, I get RTE 97 "can not call on friend . . .". I am not sure what to do.

I'm not sure I understand. Its taking 3 minutes to import individual players? Can you give me an example so I can test it out? Also, I'm not sure the database should increase too much in size, you may want to try the "Compact" option under "Options and Utilities".

Would you mind sending me a copy of your association so I can have a look? You can use www.sendthisfile.com, its free (shaun@puresim.com).

Thanks and sorry for your frustrations.

I didn't actually time it out at 3 minutes, but it does take at least twice as long to import a player. The file "lahman db" is the file showing the 22 MB increase when conversion is done.

I noticed another minor irritant when importing real players. During the off-season, when I replenish retired players with new ones from Lahman, I sometimes attempt to import a player who has already been in the association and retired from it. Now, was that Dave Martinez I had in the association 20 years ago? Its just a reminder that I should've made myself a journal or d-base of players. I guess I never envisioned this program becoming the "crack rock" [:D] it has become.

With Gold 1.1 I find out quickly that I am unable to import such players, so I move along to someone else. After I am through importing that year's batch of "rookies", I notice that all of the players I was "unable to import" have been brought into the assn anyway. They look just like any other rookie. I looked back into a team's past transaction file and found the "original" of the player (sorry, it was Bucky F***in' Dent) and his original file was unaffected by this evil twin I called Bucky Junior. I just forced Bucky Jr. to retire and moved along.

I will try to send the assn today. I'll import Vida Blue '71 #2. If you need him, you'll find the original Blue on the 1969 Baton Rouge team. Thanks for any help or advice. Just experiencing a couple pesky gnats.

Cool, I look forward to seeing the association so I can make any needed tweaks to the code.

Are you playing in sandbox mode?

For some reason, I am unable to replicate the problem from yesterday. I tried several players, including some who DID re-appear yesterday, with no success. The only one I WAS able to bring in was Jody Reed '88. I got two of him into the assn with only one import (same thing happened with him yesterday). I force retired both of them and now cannot get anyone in who's already "been there, done that".

If it should happen again, I'll go ahead and send you the assn with the evil twin still in the assn. Are you still planning a "retrosheet"-type almanac addition for 2006? I'd love to be able to plug in any past assn player's name and be taken directly to his career stats or his "card".

On second thought, I'll go ahead and send it with sendthisfile. Maybe you can get this to replicate. There is still something odd about the import time. Maybe you can solve that in the process. Thanks in advance for your support.
