How do you win with Japan?

Post by Zooey72 »

Granted, I am a German WW2 nut as far as history goes. So when I play Japan I looked at it more of what the japs should have done rather than what did happen. Namely, dec 41 japan should have declared war on Russia and attacked. That is the only way I have played them so far, and I do not get much in the way of results. I have learned the AI is kind of stupid. I can expect a WA attack in the normal places when it historicaly happened. The pain in the but is that no matter how far I push into Russia, the germans go limp when it historicaly happened. Germany still surrenders holding Huge parts of Russia. The last game they gave in having moscow surrounded for a year (which stopped me from attacking Moscow - and helping the germans as far as the landings in france and Italy.). The logistics nightmare I have playing japan doing this make sense to me. That would happen. Even the fact that it would be incredibly hard for me as japan to help the Germans in the eurupean theater may not be that much. This last game I played, the germans stopped the final killing blow on Russia in moscow because the WA took southern Italy! What the hell is that? Let them have Italy! He pulled almost all his forces out to stalemate the WA in italy? Him surrounding moscow blew my mind. Not only will Germany not fight, it is stopping me from fighting! All the time I have a huge fleet in the pacific that is breathing down my neck. And the AI German is actualy fighing me it seemed.

I have played the germans on the 3rd lvl of diff and won. When I have, japan always throws in the towel in 45. But I don't need them and win anyway. How does Japan win w/o the Germans (or at least the Germans being AI)? I can't see it being attacks into the pacific, moving ships cost too much supply, and japan is hurting from turn 1 on supply.

Hello and welcome Zooey,
Yes the AI does have its problems. We all know your pain. But don't judge this game badly until you tried playing against a real opponent. Then this game really shines.
