Not Simon and I.

Bit moot really, it looks to me like the IJN sub fleet consists of one (1) submarine. I think he needs all the help he can get fighting off the horde of Gatos as well.

When was the new routine added? Is it in 1.6? Will it be in 1.7?

In theory, what does it do?

I am. If you check the "Dark Days" AAR, yesterday I had to hit the S-36 11 times with d/cs before she sank. One of my APDs attacked 5 or 6 times (using up all her ASW ammo from her center rack, have 3 shots left on the rear).

Im running a new PBEM with 1.77 but no in an AAR , sorry Ron.

However even after 3 days i'm liking what i see with ASW in 1.77. It's hardly comprehensive i know but there isnt a turkey shoot round PH , i got one sub with 11 hits ! .. and one reported with 6 .and she seems to be slinking away to kwajelien. whereas in previous version she would have hit bottom after 2 [;)]

Give it a whirl vs the AI ..
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

My PC is not hooked on web as I'm packed up ready to move. I'm still running 1.40!!![:(][X(] I use my bros PC to haunt the forums.

Any chance you could post some examples from your PBEM? I'm curious about the ammo expenditure.

Thanks, Ron.

Hello...

Did not reduce search chances, except for altitude penalty, but did reduce brutal nature of contact. If submarine skipper makes naval skill check, messages like, "Mavis spots shadow in water", or "PBY spots oil slick" appear, but no attack is made and detection level achieved is reduced. If skipper fails check, normal attack is made and a greater detection level is achieved. Done testing it and as soon as internal folks test, will release for public beta testing.

Items from 1.791 beta:

1) Reworked air search routines. Altitude is now more important than before. For best results, stay at or below 6,000 feet.
2) Submarines now have a chance to reduce the effects of air searches. If the skipper of the submarine makes a successful naval skill check, the air searcher gains less information about submarine location and type. In addition, the skipper may avoid an air attack. In this case, no anti-aircraft check is made and no bombing/depth charge attack is made. Instead, a message is posted, concerning the suspected submarine location.

It also looks like last bug causing land units to vanish has been fixed and pilot problems resolved. Debugging the program has been an overly long process, due to the many, many, many, many, many user requested features added to the game after release. All of which cause bugs which had to be fixed.

Am winding down work on game, as need to code War in the East (WIE), to earn some money. Any features or changes you folk wanted will have to wait for a goodly bit of time. That does not mean will never revisit War in the Pacific (WIP) or War Plan Orange (WPO), just not for a while. Am still coding user requested changes for Steel Panthers: World at War (SPWaW) and we released that 10 years ago. We do care.

Bye...

Michael Wood

I haven't been able to download patch 1.791 yet, have you? So I think there are still some bugs yet, and the current patch is still listed as a beta patch.
