Auxiliary Ship Graphics

Post by JWE »

Following much discussion and many requests, I have redone the US and Allied AP and AK graphic files. They were sent to Rogue and Spooky today, so they should be up soon.

There are two versions of the files; a 'standad game' version and a 'CHS game' version. Each of the zips are organized in the familiar AnSide and AnShil numerology. Just download into the corresponding Back and Transp folders (readme first) and all should go well.

The standad game set depends from the arbitrary nature of the Large, Med, Small APs and Large, Small AKs of the game. Thus, the graphics are arbitrary, but (IMHO) appropriate for simple drop-in, without screwing up any games in progress. There are some additions, for gemes NOT IN PROGRESS only. Class slots 400-405, for Allied L, M, S APs and L, S AKs have corresponding new bit map imagess 400-405. These can be dropped in without effect on ongoing games, but cannot be mapped to a class without a restart. Once again, because of the arbitrary nature of the classes, the graphics are also arbitrary, but (IMHO) appropriate.

The CHS game set is just a drop-in set of graphics. There are a couple of errata at the end of the CHS readme sheet that will require a restart if you wanna do the deed right, but unnecessary if you just wanna play.

A third set will come out soon. This is a 'scenario developer's set'. A list of all the classes available, ship names within each class, ship characteristics; basically a set of pix, an extensive explanatory document, an excel file with editor data for each class, etc. I plan on doing two versions of this as well; a standard version, for everyday, have-fun, modders, and a CHS version, although this will require much consultation with those who have put so much work into this project already.

For those of you with a more oriental orientation, I do not forget there are two sides in this conflict. Japanese APs and AKs are in process of hierarchical arrangement. I'm looking at the 3-4 most prevalent Japanese AP classes, and also 3-4 OSK/Mitsui passenger-type troopers, along with 5-6 of the most prolific AK classes (early and late war). You are not forgotten, but since I am Gaijin, I must do my own people first; you must wait, but patience is a special virtue.
