Coordinating Assaults

Post by Deathtreader »

Hi all,

In HTTR there is no way (that I could ever discover) for the player to coordinate multi-direction assaults involving different units/forces with either the same or different H hours. E.G. 1st battalion ordered to execute frontal attack to begin approx. 1400 hrs. (or even when ready)and 2nd battalion to to commence flank attack @ 1500 hours. (or even when ready).
Will COTA be able to handle something like this?? If not, could it be a wishlist item??
Still love the system though!!!!!!! [:)]

Rob.
So we're at war with the Russkies eh?? I suppose we really ought to invade or something. (Lonnnng pause while studying the map)
Hmmmm... big place ain't it??

No COTA won't have this facility but it is on our wish list. Maybe for BFTB.[:)]

Battles from the Bulge (BFTB).

We now have five different design teams beavering away. Each team focusses on a different area. There is modern team looking at Vietnam as the first title release for their series. And we have four WW2 teams. The West front will be bringing your BFTB. The North African team will be covering the early years in the desert from O'Connor's Offensive in 1940 through to Crusader in late 41. The Pacific team are going to be covering the battles from the SW Pacific, including Guadalcanal and Finschaffen. The East front team is focusing on the Chir river battles and possibly also including other battles from the Soviet Saturn offensive, the one that sealed the lid on Stalingrad.

Will there also be an update bringing HTTR up to the standards of COTA? This was mentioned a while back, and I would certainly go for it.

I think the most recent official position is that although back porting features would be a wonderful thing to do, the limited resources which exist will be dedicated to new game development instead.

Now, I suppose if a pile of cash lands on top of Dave after COTA goes on sale, then anything is possible.

Personally, I would like to see Dave hire a full time staff of ten senior programmers. In fact, I would like to see him dedicate one programmer per beta tester so that all our wonderful suggestions could be realized. Yep, that is what I want under the tree Christmas morning ... my very own dedicated and attentive Panther Games staff programmer!

Mark, let's be realistic - you need at least 3 dedicated programmers to implement every wacky idea you have :)
