Scouting Mission

Post by Skyros »

Is it possible to add a new mission that would be for Scouting Task Forces? This mission would try to avoid surface combat while patrolling in a hex. Since we do not have aircraft as our eyes to spot enemy fleets we need to use our cruisers without them getting invovleed in useless surface actions.

It would also be useful to have a 'shadow' mission.
It would allow fast ships that spot the enemy to follow them until you ask them not to or they lose contact.
There could be a roll every turn to determine whether or not they lost contact or not. Dependent on weather and leader skills as well as the speed of the shadowing force and speed of the force being shadowed.

This would be incredibly usefull. I am having a very very hard time scouting in this game due to not having aircraft. BCs have little usefulness since they tend to engage the enemy and lose contact after just one turn.
My idea and Skyros idea would help to make this class more useful and improve the game.

We talked about adding in missions (my personal want was commerce raiding), but Mike wasn't able too.

That said, we did find that if you create a surface combat TF with a leader with under 30 aggression, the TF if engaged will fire at max one or two rounds, and then beat a hasty retreat. If you have fast scout cruisers (Sendai's or Omaha's) it works beautifully.

A scout TF and a commerce raiding TF are two missions that I hope will one day be added.

That would be great.

There should be also dice roll that shadowing TF and shadowed TF will enter combat, dependent on difference in speed, strenght of shadowed TF and skill/aggression of its commander.
