The GODDAMN THIS WAS A HUUUUUGE BATTLE!!!! replay thread

Post by String »

I thought about starting a thread where you can post the replays of your various PBEM turns (AI games can go to another thread) which have huge and/or interesting surface combats taking place. I would like to post the last turn from my PBEM vs Roger Neilson, where a true pacific Jutland took place, with a LOT of ships sunk. I'm going to have to wait for his confirmation and agreement on this subject though, so until then, feel free to post your own exceptional turns

Just as a teaser, the total tally of sunk ships that turn that I could make out of the combat report alone was

5 BB
2 CA
1 CL
20 DD
7 AP
2 AK
1 AD
4 MSW
5 TK

And countless other ships damaged.

I didn't......

Roger

Those who want to see it from the Japanese perspective, I have written up my views and what I saw in my AAR thread.

However, nothing quite beats the sitting and watching it unfold......

I'd be more tempted to shoot the game's designer. One hit by a 4.7" shell SINKS the Royal Soverign?
I'd love to know where that shell could land to achieve such a result. One torpedo I could buy..., that's just bad luck. But 1 shell???

LOL. More than likely Royal Sovereign was already heavily damaged. Note how the destroyer with her sank without a shot. What probably happened is from damage already suffered she was sinking anyway, and as she went down she took a 4.7 shell.

I've seen it in WitP, enter a surface combat with a heavily damaged ship, and a lot of times it will just go down without help. Just because it says 1 shell hit, and is sunk doesn't mean she was undamaged and at full integrity when the destroyer scored the hit.

[:D] LOL

Tankerace is 100% right. DDs were covering hexes around Taytay, where the main battle did happen. Couple of them got sunk due to that [:@]. But mighty Kusonoki put last nail into R. Sovereign casket [:D].

Btw, for some reason sunk BB appeared in sunk list only after a month or so. No one trust to poor Cpt of Kusoniki [:-].

Would you believe a destroyer captain who said "I hit a batleship with a single shell and it sank."? [:D]

Then, when it was proven that RS really did sink, promote the Admiral (who wasn't even there)....
