Surface Combat Bug

Post by FDRLincoln »

Playing the Jutland Scenario, KofK and I have run into a surface combat bug. The last two turns, consistent crash-to-desktop when fighting a cruiser action near the Phillipines. I had to run the turn five times before it didn't crash, and the first atttempt at running the subsequent turn also resulted in a crash.

Since it is a PBEM game, I'll need the password to.

Hey, Tanker, I figured out that the game would crash if I tried to scroll the combat report down after a battle. I was able to reproduce this with the turns I sent you earlier.

With a mouse scoll wheel or manually? I just tried both ways on your turns, and it didn't crash. Does it happen in just WPO, or WPO and WitP?

Also wasn't able to get the turn to crash, at all. I tried everyway to break it, and I couldn't....

Both mouse scroll and keyboard scroll. It does not happen in WitP, only WPO, and only if I am running my virus scan. I tested it on a couple of new turns and it keeps happening.

I suppose this could just be a problem with conflicts on my system, but I have a pretty standard Dell model running Windows XP and Norton AntiVirus, nothing exotinc. If it's happening to me it may happen to others as well. Just thought you should be aware.

I could cut-and-paste the programming gibberish that shows up in the "do you want to send this to microsoft" error message if you like.

Thanks for the tip... I'd suspect its Norton causing it (if it only happens when virus scanning). I used to use Norton, and it gave me nothing but headaches.
