Device manager - computer crashing

Post by Bill Durrant »

This is suddenly happening in WPO and WitP. My computer is randomly crashing (when issuing orders or watching a replay) and the whole system reboots. I have sent error reports to Microsoft and I get a message saying a device manager has been asked to perform an illegal action. On one occassion I got the dreaded blue screen message but luckily the computer retsrated okay.

Anyone help or give advice. It doesn't happen when anything else is running. I know both programs are resorce hogs but it has only just started happening. No other programs running at the time other than the usual background stuff but my hard disk does sound noisier but then maybe I am just imagining that

I remember similar to this happenening to someone last year in WitP.

1. When was the last time you cleaned out your computer? Blow through it with CO2 and clean the fans or such. Some guy after WitP first came out had never done that, and his processor and video card were getting to hot and causing it to crash.

2. When was the last time you defragged or ran scandisk.

Do you play under your Admin level or a User level acct?

I prefer play the games under an user acct, this loads less "service" and gains me between 25-50MB more System RAM free.

Something to try.. you do have to have installed game for all users...

Noise? What Noise? It's sooooo quiet and Peaceful!
