If the Chinese capture this base it shows the Soviet symbol. If the Japanese recapture it will it cause Soviet activation?

My understanding of Soviet activation is that it is purely determined by hex coordinates, not base ownership. So I don't think that it will cause Soviet activation.

you can change the hq of this base to chinese, it won't come back to russians (like cursed bangkok to japan no matter how many times you change it...[:@])
the real question is: will china get supply from cccp, when this base is under chinese controll? [&:]

I took this base from my opponent (japan) who then counter attacked and I was forced toretreat to the North East. He pursued and bombarded my unit a few times. He left the base uncovered so I moved back and recaptured it. The next turn the Soviets activated. The date is 4/15/42, he did not cross the border and he has maintained a garrison of at least 8000.

Any ideas as to why this may have activated the USSR?

In my current PBEM, in January 1943, and after a disastrous campaign in China, I only control Chungking with a garrison of merely 300Kmen under protection of a level 9 fortification and Tabun Nur…
When non-trapped in Chungking, Chinese units, or what is remaining of them have regrouped in North China, in Tabun Nur.
When this un defended base has been captured from Japan, it turned to be a Far East HQ base (??).
Fairly, and not willing to activate Soviets by accident if Japanese would retake the city, I changed HQ to Chinese Command for a very few PP.

Then, I noticed a new economy quickly growing up : smuggling…[:D]
Yes, the city is receiving supply from the soviets border….

Well, my opponent would not appreciate this, but I am not considering this as a bug, but like a ‘non official’ support from USSR to communist chinese army…..

No. In my - very limited - testing, attacking a base that was assigned to a Soviet HQ but was OUTSIDE the SU (in my case, Urumchi on my map) did not result in Soviet activation.

I guess someone needs to test it some more...

Lunacy game, I took it from Mogami in April? 1942 he just took it back.

While I held it supply was drawn from the Soviets.

When he took it they did not activate.

Chinese units retreated in the direction of the Soviet supply source. I'm going to leave them there, let them build up and then counter attack with one division and a base force.
