A Story Idea for National Public Radio?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

A Story Idea for National Public Radio?

Post by KG Erwin »

I just sent this message to NPR as a story suggestion:

"Grown out of the hobby of playing battles on a cardboard map, the world of computer wargaming encompasses a wide range of enthusiasts in the hobby. However, the image of war-loving computer geeks is far from the truth of who plays these games, and why they engage in this "peculiar hobby". Many are pacifists by nature, but indulge in this as an intellectual exercise such as playing chess, but with historical overtones. Others do this to honor military heroes of the past, and to encourage the study of miltary history by playing out famous battles in a game format. "

Do you think this will spur their curiousity?

I've heard people call it a "morbid curiosity" to play historical based games. I think they are full of @#$%! People have their own reasons to play. For me, it is pretty cool to "rewrite" history. All facts aside, just pure gaming entertainment!
You have to Out think, Out flank, Out fight, and if neccessary, Outrun your enemies........Author Unknown
