Upgrading Diplomats

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Upgrading Diplomats

Post by 1LTRambo »

I know that improving courts will allow the player to improve the levels of new diplomats. Is there a way to improve the levels of existing diplomats?

I've built two diplomats so far in a city with 6 and then 7 courts but cultural of 2. As I recall they are both something like 20. 20.60, suggesting to me the obvious connection that higher courts generate a high legal rating (like the world needs more lawyers [X(]).

Somebody wrote on this forum that they built some diplomats than came out 60.60.60; I'd like to know if that was anything more than random.

Right, I under stand that . I want to know if you can increase "existing" diplomats.
For example, one of Spain's diplomats has a legal rating of 0. Can this be improved or is that diplomat stuck at being lousy?

That stinks.[:(] I will have to wait until I have a level 10 court in one of my provinces before I build any more.

In a recent game, I managed to build two 60/60/60 Swedish diplomats with a level 7 court.

Is 60/60/60 the highest rating for diplomats? Also, what was your culture level in that province that you produced the high level diplomats?

I'm pretty sure the maximum would be 70/70/70. I can't remember what the culture level was, but it's unlikely it was more than 1-2 higher (if any) than the starting 1792 culture level for the province (a Swedish home province, I don't have the game open to check, but the one with the highest courts)

According to the rulebook, you're supposed to get a maximum of 20 points per level of court in the building province, with no rating higher than 70. So the highest-rated (theoretical) new diplomatic build would have two 70's and one 60.

However, if Kevan built two 60/60/60 dips in a level 7 court, then it would appear the implementation of the rule is bugged.

I have built several diplomats and have recvieved the following ratings. 30/40/50, 60/20/30 and 20/20/60. Unfortunately I can't tell you under what conditions they were built as it was a while back. I do recall trying to build them in a province with at least a level 5 court.

If courts effect the legal rating, what developments effect the espionage and influence ratings?

The rule on how courts effect new diplomat stats is kinda unclear.

Is it 20 pts per Court level total stats, then randomly divided into the 3 catagories? Thats what malthussen theorizes, when he sez highest theoretical diplomat is 70 70 & 60:

10 Courts x 20 = max 200, hence 70 + 70 + 60 = 200

OR is the system more generous, being 20 pts max per court level PER CATAGORY, randomly generated...with 70 being the upper limit? If this is the case a level 7 court could indeed create a 60/60/60 diplomat. A level 7 court would in theory be capable of between 0 and 140 points per stat, so with reasonably good luck, yeah, getting a 60 result 3 times is possible; IN FACT if this is the case its a bit surprising there are no 70s (given that should be the result 50% of the time for each catagory).

I just looked over the algorithm for the assignment of a newly created diplomat's stats. Each stat gets a +20 in addition to the random amount allocated to it.

I may change this for the next build...
