Russian defense of Berlin vs German counter attack. Dec 1945

I have been told that remnants of the german army; elements of a armored division and two infantry divisions; are en route to Berlin for a last ditch assault to regain their capital. America must not have Berlin! We will defend the German capitol until every german in the world has bled every drop of blood if need be!

We took far too long to set up our positions, and now we are paying the price. At least a company of Fallenshrim, and a compan of engineers have already advanced into the eastern blocks of the city. In the southern sectors, we have managed to push them back east, past the main road. In the north it is much worse. SS squads have assaulted an admittedly foolishly undefended north road and river, supported by a platoon of Panzer IVs and half tracks. We have held them at the river, and north of the main road, but for how long? Our infantry are too few, spread thin over the entire breadth of the city, and those in the north holding the river have taken heavy casualties, and have fallen back away from the river itsself. Our armor is largely concentrated along the main road through town, and several tanks are smashing their own road to the north, in hopes of flanking the germans once they advance towards the crossroads. Worst of all, the beastliest thing appeared on the field, headed towards our southern flank: A Sturmtiger. Our armored presence down at that flank has all but been wiped out. We have 7 T34/85s en route, as well as a couple Sherman IIIs the Americns lent us before the during the war, but I fear they will avail nothing against such an awesome display of power. The lone surviving IS-2 guarding that flank has entrenched itsself in hopes of suprising the Sturmtiger and the platoon of Panzer IVs advancing towards that route. Our artillery is tied up in pounding ther german artillery, at least what does fall only falls among the entranchments that we placed as a fall back point. Curse my foolishness in waiting until it was almost too late to move to the edge of town! Tanks are next to worthless in the extreme closeness of the buildings, and I do not have the infantry to drive back the germans own. We will see what happens, but for now the situation looks grim.

I lost the save when I bought a new comp to go in my room. It was on the main comp in the den, which I now use primarily for playing CoD and CoD2. This comp runs SPWaW and all my older games fine, and get's me online; which is what I intended. I however didn't think that the stupid CD would come up with a cyclic redundancy error with such a relatively small amount of files copied. I got the game, but this one and a couple others were never recovered (I lost a few dozen MP3s as well in this manner).

That's too bad cause the beginning of this story is an interesting set-up. [:(]
