intro screen

when i start up WPO after the game is done organizing the files instead of going to the intro screen the whole game minimizes. when i click on the program on the task bar WPO comes up and i get the credits in the center window, but in the background there's a screwed up version of my wallpaper instead what is supposed to be in the background behind the credits. i reinstalled from scratch (erased the old WPO dir) but it still comes up like this. i noticed the intro worked fine on my brother's confuser when i was home for christmas, but it never worked on mine. any thoughts? am i missing something the program needs to run the intro properly? thanks!

Hmmm, what version of Windows Media player do you have? It sounds like it might be an older version.

the absolute latest! and i always get the latest fixes for xp as well. i reinstalled xp a couple of months ago and i always try to have everything up to date - i'm very confuser-literate and it's very puzzling! it's not a huge deal - it's just a pain having to re-maximize the game right after i start it!

Rename your VIDEO folder to NOVIDEO, and the problem should go away...

I had the same problem and symptoms as Flanker Leader on my machine. Fixed in the same way. In examining the video files, the Intro and 2by3intro run fine individually. The Matrixintro file causes Media Player to attempt access to the internet, signals a codec error, plays the audio but has no accompanying video. Latest version of Windows Media Player.

The need to display the error is most lilely causing the game it minimise.

I get that myself when playing the game, and some background task (usually virus scanner) wants my attention.[:D]
Just click on the task bar and it goes back to normal, although sometimes if a surface/air combat is in action, the screen is a bit jumbled until it finishes.
