Opponent Wanted

Post by BlackSunshine »

Well, 1 of my PBEM opponents has disappeared on me, that only leaves me with 1 PBEM game. I can handle another.

I am running version 1.6. I will take either side (but prefer allies), and am open to most house rules. I would consider myself an intermediate player, but I am still learning on a daily basis.

I would like to play scenario #15, but would play either CHS or Nik Mod, if someone helps me with a seperate install.

Email blacksunshine1941@yahoo.com or PM or post here if interested.

Thanks. [:)]

FYI...you don't need a seperate install for Nikmod...they are scenario files that unzip into your SCEN subfolder....the scenario numbers are slots 40 and 45

(generally you only need seperate installs if either using Andrew's map(s) or if you want one install for beta witp exe's or official witp.exe

to create a 2nd install simply open windows explorer, right mouse click and drag your witP folder to another part of your file directory and choose 'copy'

Thanks Nik! I did not know that. I thought all mods required a seperate install. I take it CHS does, as it alters the map?

Anyhow, to answer a few questions 1 day turns only. House rules are negotiable and I can get a turn a day out on most days. On my days off from work (bleh) I can normally get more than 1 turn out.

Still looking though of course...

BlackSunshine, if you are still looking I am looking for a Japanese opponent for Niks mod 5.02 using Andrews version 5 map and version 1.795.

Well, I havent had any replies that have panned out. I'd have preferred Allies but I'm tired of waiting. So yeah, I'll play you. I just hope I can do well. It's tough to win as the Japs.

The only thing I would need to know is how to have a seperate install so as to not screw up my 1.6 game. If you can direct me to an accurate link of how to install Andrew's map as well as 1.795 then we can get this on the road.

Just make a copy of your WitP folder and use it for your current games and use the original installation so the map loader for the mod Andrew's map can find it easier. Patch the original folder to the version you need and get the maps and such.

Be advised, when you patch up to 1.795 in one installation, it will say that is the current version in the other one but it won't be...the game always shows the latest version installed on the machine.

Ok... so I want to copy and paste my WITP folder. I will then rename that one WITP1.6. Then I will get he Andrew's map stuff, patch, etc. and do all that in the original folder.

I can't seem to get the link to Andrew's site to work, anyone have it?

I have played this game for a few weeks, the AI for either side is terrible. I probably am not skilled enough yet for a real opponent but I find playing against the computer AI laugable so I was wondering if anyone wanted to waste their time by slaughtering my army. I could play either side, but I think it would be easier for me as the American. If anyone is interested please let me know and we can discuss it. I am retired so I have plenty of time to devote to pastimes like gaming, etc.
