I won't go into how bad some of the current reports are, but is there anyway to tell if a new ship, LCU, or air unit came into play during the last turn?

ANy kind of industry summation reporting, so you can see what is being produced, where, and why or why not it is being produced?

Some way of telling what units aare being rebuilt, and why theya re not being rebuilt if they are not?

Hiya Berk.

No direct reports for when units appear in a PBEM, but you can usually tell from the intelligence screen and the reinforcements subsection.

This is a feature I would find MOST helpful! A list of new reinforcement arrivals and their current location. Can't be too hard to add something like that...

Well, it does appear in AI games.

In a scroll that goes by too quickly to read.

I find that it all makes sense if I just remember one simple thing. The game and interface were deliberately designed to conceal as much information from the players as possible.
This game does not have a learning curve. It has a learning cliff.

One of the things I do is keep a notebook going on the game. Every turn when I start it, I look at the arrival/kills screens and write down major stuff that may be showing up in a few days so I do not forget about it.

I'd just like it to be able to dump the production data, so I don't have to manually record things all the time.

Except that sometimes the present, and the tree, are hidden away in the basement, and you don't even know that there might be something new there...

Frankly, the text file combat report and operational report should have been 4 different reports. One of each for each side. That way the 'fog of war' would have been better and closer to reality. The individual side's operational report, then, could have included arriving units.

You can also do a print screen on the arrival ETA's of units by going to the different unit schedules in the intelligence screen when in the game.
So much WitP and so little time to play.... :-(

Steel Panthers WaW plays music when reinforcements arrive. This would be a way to tell you to check but not give any info to your opponant.

What I do:

Click on Intelligence Window every turn before clicking on "end turn" => I check land, air, naval reinforcements. When an unit will arrive in 2 days, I write it on the excel file (I have three: naval, air and land). Absolutely all the units are on an excel file (when a ship sinks, you have to delete that entry, of course).

I hate chaos, so I avoid it. The "CV in the basement" is a good retort [;)] In fact, the game is much less overwhelming if you organise your forces. A few units or literally thousands (like in WitP), it does not matter... as long as you stay organised. In other words, I can easily be Bozo The Clown, in charge of all the japanese and/or allied forces. And be sure of that, a few seconds and I will be able to tell you how many AA units, bombers, etc., I have in x theater [:)]

But of course, I try to simulate the war. I take my time. Playing industrial PBEM turns has to be another thing. Taylorism? [:D]

In the very rare occasion that I don't have a turn to work on, I've also added

Air Reinforcements : A report with
Date of Arrival (* can't tell you how much I hate that this isn't in game *)
Sqdn Name
Type of planes
Number of planes
Where

LCU Reinforcements
Date of Arrival (* can't tell you how much I hate that this isn't in game *)
LCU Name
LCU Type (HQ, Inf, etc).
Value (assault value if combat, air supprot etc. if not).
Where it arrives
My intended destination for it (prep points)
AP load value*
AK load value*

* The load values are useful so I can see if need to send a hoarde of transports to a port to pick the thing up. Better to send them early and have them there when the LCU arrives, than to have it arrive, and then waste two weeks to get the transports there.

Naval Reinforcemetns
Date of Arrival (* can't tell you how much I hate that this isn't in game *)
Name
Type
Port of arrival
