ship conversions

Post by AirGriff »

Hey, I've been converting ships left and right since Dec. 7th. I just now looked to see when they would be showing up. I don't see any of my conversions in the ship availability lineup 6 months or so down the road [X(] What gives???

That is correct. It takes that long for the AK's to convert to AR's, and others that are available when you click on those ships when they are in San Fran. The only other factor is the setting for varible reinforcements (either 15 or 60 days).
It is best to do some at the beginning of the war and do so throughout the war at periodic intervals.
I usually do about 20 to 30 from those that start on the West Coast from 12/8/42. Those AR's come in handy in turn around time once the mid-42 upgrades for CV's begin and then the big fleet wide for most ships in 10/42 (AA upgrades - [:D]). If they are not there, then upgrades even in ports with a shipyard take forever even when you do so in shifts to allow some to available for combat.

Use the toggles at the top of the reinforcements window to toggle everything but the Auxiliaries off and they will be easier to find.

I'm playing allies. I know it takes 6 months or so to get the ship back. What I'm saying is that I go to the ship availability list, select Aux only, look 6 months down the road and, horror of horrors, I don't see my ships on the list!!!! I'll check it again, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. Do you think maybe they're in the AK list?

Nope, it's Jan 15. I'll take a look again this afternoon. I hope to God I misread something. I converted about 60 ships or so [:(]

When you click on ship availability, sort alphabetically and then look them up under AD, AR, & AS. I'm a little OCD (Obsessive Complusive) and a professional counselor. [;)]

My ships went this way. All AK's that began with "Steel, West, or Ma..." are coverted to AR's. All AK's that begin with "Morm, Santa, or American" are converted to AD's. All AK's that have either "City or San" in them are converted to AS's.

Thus, I have about 80 ships that will be ready in 6 weeks game time (I'm at the end of April '42.

I'm currently playing as the Japanese with + 60 days for reinforcements and every AK upgrade showed up at 180 days.

What would be a good number for the japanes to convert? I know I urgently need some MLE and having AR's at hand is always nice as well, but how many of them do you actually convert?

If I recall, I started 11 AR (to bring me up to 12) and 4-6 MLE (and a couple of others too). I accelerated 4 of the ARs and 2 MLEs initially and then accelerated 6 more when the initial 6 arrived so I got 6 on day 90 and another 6 on day 135. They all are coming in handy now. I'm not sure how many I want but I'll start more when the second group are done.

I convert 16 ARs (4 for each for Rabaul, Singapore, Tokyo, and Kwajeline), 8 MLEs (4 for Rabaul and 4 for Kwajeline), and and extra 4 AS just for good measure.

Why do you need multiple MLEs in a base? Just one will reload all the minelayers.

By 10/42 I had converted 4 MLE and 31 AR. I originally thought 15 AR (plus one starter) would be enough, then (when I saw how many damaged ships I was going to have) I converted another 8, then 8 more

I started to convert 4 to AR plus some AD/MLE no AE. Seems I have some homework to do...
