Yeah, the commercials were lame. But, not as lame as the officiating. Hmm... I'm pretty convinced that professional sports are all just fancy versions of professional wrestling.

(for those of you who don't know what professional wresting is, it is a type of entertainment where the matches are all predecided on who will win.)

i had a friend who was kind of a sports nut until he got a VCR and started looking at the refs calls. He became convinced that gamblers were no longer bribing the players to throw games, but they were bribing the refs. The refs, of course, are not under the scrutiny of the press, etc. like the players are, and they don't get anywhere near the money the players do.

He stopped watching sports after that...

Why would it be surprising that the umpires were bad?

It isn't if you accept my friend's "gamblers are bribing the refs" theory.

However, supposedly the best refs are supposed to be used at this event, and they have advantage of using TV cameras to make calls in close plays (although since i no longer watch football, i will admit i don't know what the National Football League's current policy in this matter is...) so bad officiating is not really acceptable.
