XML engine edit help

Post by jeremy7227 »

Hi all - I am attempting to tweak the game in a couple of different ways.

First I am creating an XML for use with a Historical MLB assosciation that will make the period 1901 - 1919 play more like modern baseball. I have gleened that the internal game engine uses 2004 as a baseline for seeding the "safe hit" results and I am trying to tweak the season multipliers around that. For 1901 just as a test I ran with this Engine setting :

<ADJUSTMENTS_REAL RangeMin="1901" RangeMax="1901" out="1.04" mult_singles="1" mult_doubles="1" mult_triples="1" mult_hr="8" mult_bb="1" mult_k="1"/>

"8" was definitely a bad number to use but it was late and my math and reasoning skills were off. A "4" might have been a better fit figuring to take the 1901 total of HR to ~1700. Had it worked, "8" would have been way too much. BUT it didn't work. In fact the season I played with this line was nearly the same as with defaults and the Association HR total was 442. Can someone share if they have had any luck editing the engine for use with real players?

Second - Assosciations beginning in 1871 tended to sim poorly in 3 seasons my Lge Ldr hit between .191 - .212 (fictitious or seeded with real via SandBox mode). Using the assumption above that the year 2004 is a baseline, I inflated(actually deflated) the out multiplier to raise the BA. But it didn't feel right. If 2004 is the baseline then the projected lge avg of .270 +/- should be consistent across all fictitious seasons. That isn't what I am seeing.

Shuan, can you shed some light on the numbers in play in the internal game engine? In both scenarios it would be helpful to have just a little more info.

Thanks.

I am going to reply with link from the old PS MB. This answered some of my questions - maybe it will be of help to someone else too. BryanK, Amaroq - Do you have any of the engine files you tested and used? Feel free to email me directly.
