Setup Lebensraum

Post by c92nichj »

Does anyone know where I am supposed to setup the Italian units that are supposed to go to east africa in the lebensraum scenario? 1 Inf 2 TERR and 1 Gun.
According to the scenario EThiopia is liberated and Italian somaliland & eritrea are conquered.

I have this on my list of inscrutable items from the setup sheets. After pondering it for a couple of weeks, I decided it was a mistake and MWIF does not include those units as part of the Italian setup for Lebensraum.

Missed The Bus has DeGaulle as part of the Free France setup in Jul/Aug 1940, which I have also removed as not making any sense.
Missed the Bus also lists 2 Nationalist Chinese infantry divisions, where it should apparently be 1 Nationalist and 1 Communist.

I haven't gone through Darkness before the Dawn or Decline and Fall in excruciating detail yet, but the setup instructions for the other 9 scenarios are decodeable if you're patient.

Would he be hanging out in England?

He would be in Gabon with a full armor corps.

Yes. That french armoured HQ of his is very conjectural - it's meant to reflect De Gaulle being rapidly promoted from being the only competent commander of a french armoured division in 1940 to control of all French armoured and motorized forces, which would've been feasible if France'd held out for longer.

He never saw combat again after July '40, except as a passenger on a battleship that was breifly fired on by the Guns of Vichy held Dakar.

So I don't think it should've been made available to the FF .. it would've been more realistic to instead have a 1942 'de Lattre' armoured HQ.

There were very few armoured formations in Gabon, Shannon - they were mostly coloniale, escapees from France and native Territorial police, although morale was very high after he arrived.
