8.403 Is it anygood

Guys will this 8.403 improve my playing only the long campaigns. Is it worth my down loading and installing. Also if i should use it isnt it still only a beta edition and not the true upgrade. Will I have to reinstall and lose the progress i have gotten to in the long campaigns. And where do i look for it at to download and is it easy to install. Sorry for all the questions but i am old and feeble and worry a lot about anyhting i have to do with this dam computor.[:D][:D][:D][:D] Any help with these questions of concern with out derision would be aoppreciated.

I finally installed it this past weekend and haven't played with it enough to notice a difference. I know some of the guys around here really think it is a vast improvement over 8.3, but I had been using 8.3 up to that point and didn't really have a problem with it. Then again, I don't worry about the technical details that many of these guys strive to fix which I greatly appreciate, BTW. Being historically correct is extremely important to me, but I'm glad there are guys around here that are more compulsive about it than myself. [:D]

If I were you, I wouldn't upgrade (if it's a hassle for you to mess with your computer when things are working well) until you find a compelling reason to do so. If you find there is a feature in 8.403 that you need for long campaigns, then that might justify an upgrade. You might be just as well served to wait until the next full version release (8.41? 8.5?).

I was a skeptic (which is the reason Mike asked me to test for him, IMO [;)] ), but it is actually quite good, and very enjoyable, especially once the 'programmer's conventions (a fancy title for 'options') are put into place. Then it becomes damn good.

But Jeff has a very good point. If you are in no rush and enjoying the game as-is, it does not hurt any to wait.

Its best to use the 8.4 patch. The 8.403 makes arty even weaker so avoid it like the plague.

I must agree with TokyoBoyTensai on this one. Arty is vastly underated. 8.403 makes it next to useless except as a suppressor which is the job of mortars.

I liked 8.403 because germany will buy some armor even in small points, makes fights much more interesting... And that weaker altillery is good. it was so dull to win a fight without inrantry getting any real contact to enemy. if you had 6 * wuhframmen 40`s and small or medium sized game area, they were totally devasting. sometimes it took something like 1 or 2 turns to win a fight. real conflics arent won purely by artillery.

Thanks guys for the help. I dont see where the artty is that bad in the version I have on now. But think i will wait for the official to come out anyways.
