Russian Campaign continues

Kiev Russia

0900 Hours

We have been given orders to delay the German advance as long as we can and to inflict as much damage as we can. We have set up a prepared defensive line to the west of Kiev. Hq supply has been able to supply us with at least 75 mines which we wil set up forward of our front lines.

A will have the left or northern flank to protect and B will have the center with C in the south. We have heard the X SS panzer will hit us with a reinforced panzer division. As we were unable to repair or get replacements for a lot of our tanks from the last battle. We are going into this fight short on armor. This is not going to be an easy fight and the outcome is very much indoubt.

Our men are in high spirits and ready. They are dug in and have our guns on the hills behind them to hopefully deal with the German onslaught. We should have had at least one more month to get replacements and repairs. But this is the fourtunes of war so to speak.

So far no sight of the Germans this morning but they can be heard moving about on there side of no mans land. The deep throaty roar of there engines can be heard even tho they can not be seen as yet. Metal against metal can be heard as well as they prepare there advance. There is a thunderstorm brewing and the rain has already begun to fall in sheets. We can still see for near 900 yards which may help us as they will be in our killing range before they see us. have given orders to hold all fire till they are within 600 yard range. Hopefully our crappy gunners will not miss at this range like they did in our last battle.

As I sit and drink my hot bitter coffee this morning I cant hope that this may be the last battle of the war. If we dont stop them today Russia may be in there hands by the end of this year. This battle may be the biggist factor of wether Russia will survive or not.

Already we are being hit hard by the German armor. At least a hundred tanks have been sighted with most of them hitting north of center. A company on our north flank has already sustained heavy casualties as they hit them the hardest with a large tank force.

Maybe 25 tanks has also been sighted on our southern flank hitting C company front lines. Our boys are putting up one heck of a fight tho. At least 30 tanks have been split asunder so far. But we have also lost at least 4 light tanks from the center. We just dont have the tanks to go one for one with the Germans. As we were already short with D company having several short platoons of tanks. At least two of ther platoons only had 2 tanks left after the last battle. And HQ said they just did not have the tanks to spare at the time.

This battle is not going to be a sure thing for us today. we are going to lose alot of brave men im afraid. This battle is still very much in doubt. The recon photo I have sent along with this report will show you how bad straights A company is in and for that matter my whole command. You can see A companys hill where the guns are set up has taken a lot of bombardment from everything from 81 and 105 to rockets.

We will hold to the last man but if there is any ways you can help us please do as fast as possible.

This battle has raged for 40 minutes and I mean really raged. We have been under attack from a massive German armor attack. At least 100 tanks have been sighted with us taking out at least 45 tanks so far. The north flank that is A companys area faced at least 40 tanks. They are still holding although have sustained large amounts of casualties. We have lost at least three of there tanks and this is not good as we were short on tanks when we started this battle due to massive armor losses in our last battle. Our people have to get on the ball and start putting out alot more tank production if we are to win this war. does not look good here today as once again our gunners dont seem to be able to hit there butts with both hands. While the German gunners are right on target almost every time. Our gunners are missing too many times even at ranges of only 400 yards.

The ariel photo enclosed will show you the dire straights we are still in. This is B comapny in the center still being threatend by a large bunch of there tanks. 2 Pz IIIG tanks have even breached the minefield is in the process of doing lot of damage to our Engineers platoon that was laying mines in front of our lines. I have given orders that all comapnys are to lay there mortars in on this group of the enemy tanks in the hope of saving our center. At least the mortar ammo is holding out as higher command seen fit to give each comapany a ammo dump for there mortars. If we did not have the extra ammo this battle would have been over for us already as the mortars is slowing the tank advance into our lines and over running us.

This battle is still not been decided by a long shot. If the center can hold out and not allow the Germans to break thru then it will be in our favor. Once again tho it will be hard to rebuild before we go into the next battle as we are losing way too much equipment in this battle and the loss of life is staggering for our side. What with not being able to completely rebuild from our last battle added to our losses today makes our future very doubtful to say the least.

Well the germans have run away from our superior force. I have to admire the tenacity of our men in the face of overwhelmong odds. Little over an hour then they ran out of armor and men to throw at our lines. We took out 138 of there tanks today and 1711 of there men to go along with them. Plus 15 apc and 3 artty for good measure. Our losses where worse then I expected 196 men with 22 more of our tanks destroyed. This was more then I expected and something we can hardly afford to happen to us. We were already short at least 12 tanks when we began this fight. This means that we had hardly any tanks left whole on the field at the end of this fight.

Just hope that supply can get us repaired and replacements for our losses before we go up against the Germans once again. Our orders are to pull back and move by train to Orel for our next encounter against the Germans. At least they are giving us a month to see what we can do about replacements.

Today we proved what the Russian people can do against a much larger and better trained force then us. The germans are supposed to the best fighting force in the world today. With short supplys we proved they are beatable and can be forced to retreat.

This battle has shown our people now is the time to unite and defeat these hordes from hell. No longer must we be on the defensive only but can now push back with all our might.

Robot, wonderful depiction and screenshot buddy, how did u do the red outlining?? looks great, like how u staggered your mines, really keepin the AI guessing on where safe crossing might be?? and slows them down so the Arrty and AT can concentrate on them. RT

Riun did the red outline with paint when I opened it with the program. there are icons to the left of the picture after you open it in paint where you can select color and use a brush to do the lines are any other special effects. I have one made up for my next russian battle already showing lines of advance in a light blue color you will like. The program i use to capture is Uoso I believe is the right spelling. Works great corparalli got me hooked on this.
