How to use Japan?

I have played AI but no human opponent. I am able to use all nations but Japan. I see alot of promise in them just not how to perfect it.

The thing is when im WA i move a big fleet a few spots from pearl harbor then lauch ships in all dirrections and knock out the transports then Japan is dead. Or if they split there fllet i take the bunch and sit them in a place that cuts of enough recources.

So how do i prevent this planes artilery subs, just wondering.

Japan dosen't have the resources to go to war with the US... Fleets are too costly. So try this...First take the China coast, and build Art. and Inf...Spend on attack value for both of these types, and withdraw ALL your units from the islands. Plan to attack the Soviets on the Spring of 41...Keep production of supply high enought to rebuild resources as fast as you capture them...Advance to the Urals, leaving them for the Germans, this will add 10 resources for Japan to produce with...Then turn to China... On the Winter of 43, attack the Allies in SE Asia...Then build fighters (lots), and improve their attrabuites...By this time Japans production will be 28...Now you can play with the big boys!

as for the japs. I usually upgrade my subs torpedo attack and carrier evasion for the navy. As for land attack the Russian push can be a rewarding way to go, but if at any point the chinese can muster a counterattack, you can lose alot of time and resources trying to maintain the Russians! Then the Russian Bear will be on your back sooner than later.

For me i like to focus on india. The US enters the war in '43 so you can take advantage of this by sending sub raids into the region. If the Germans can help by getting past the suez canal, both forces can blockade india and thus you'll have time invade India. But no hesitation is allowed. The move must be plotted ahead and done decisively. good luck

A good question, I really dont know how to play Japan either, I usually am content to let the AI manage ..or mis-manage as the case may be. What about a Kill Australia- China-India focus?. Ignore the marginal(?) islands in the pacific and just focus on takeing out China 1st, then see what happens? A lot of the guys around here scream bloody murder when they hear someone talk about axis running a strategy that didnt actually happen IRL. But I really should play some Japan VS the AI matches. Problem is-German AI in WaW is even worse than Japan. At least Japan can hold out till 1947. Ive found to Japan turns to be far more time intensive than Germanys. So playing them both is a pita. But play Japan w German AI and ill prob find the entire W/A on my case by early 44 [:D]. Ive watched a lot of AI turns where its sitting on India's Doorstep with the ability to overrun it easily, yet it just sits there and vegitates till the WA attrition them right out of SE Asia. Anoying when you cant do anything about it....
