few more questions please

Post by balto »

Hello Again,

Thanks to everyone for the help so far. Very cool game, but a so much to learn.

1) Advance Supply -- If you have 10 units in a region. Do you only need 1 unit of Supply for them all to defend with no penalty?

2) If answer to (a) is YES, can the single supply be in the region Next to the Region that has the 10 defending units?

3) If I am right so far through #2, how come if the region with 10 units and the 1 unit of supply is in the next region.,. how come all 10 units do not have the '3 barrels' symbol next to them?

4) When US and Russia are frozen.., does that mean that anything other then Research and Supplies cannot be moved?

5) I had transports going from England around Norweigan and Barents Sea.., could not get the Lend Lease button to light up. What am I missing? Does it take a few turns to have the line established?

6) I gave Allies a try against AI. How in the heck can Britain bomb Europe when Germans have AA? AA seems unbelievable powerful? And if Germans research Air attack on the AA.., that would seem to be super impossible to do anything then.

Thanks,

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. I would need to see the actual situation to tell.
4. Well, you can never move research as there are no such units on map. For the US, yes, only supply can be moved when frozen. For Russia, correct while all of Russia is frozen, incorrect once some of Russia has unfrozen.
5. When you play with adv. supply the LL button is not used. Instead you move the supply units to Russia along your transport line.
6. You just have to suffer the loses. Either fly across the water to Germany to avoid opfire or bomb France/The Netherlands.

Jan,

Thanks again, especially on the Lend Lease thing.

PS - I have been goofing with the Japanese a little bit. I really do not have a question, but I have no idea what to do with them other then hide and not go to war with WA.

imo, playing JP can be very tricky, but u got a lot of choices. the most important thing is, u need to really concentrate on ONE particular objective and not going for all.

no matter what u are going to do, taking the coastal regions of CHN in the first two rounds and repairing the RPs are the most obvious things to do. remember, militia pop up EVERYTIME when CHN regions are invaded by ground forces. so make sure u deploy enough shock troops and kill ALL units that pops up. otherwise u are gifting CHN with extra units and even delaying JP's progress.

afterwards, its all up to u. here is some typical JP strategies:

1) go all-out at CHN (confine to air raids b4 invading any inland regions b4 Su41 if u dont want to lose the WA freebies)

2) double team SU with GER

3) reserve supplies/ tech up units in early turns and go for SEA regions + Pearl harbour early (say by Wi42, but imo not earlier as i dont think JP is ready ...)

the main purpose of the above is to grab more RPs for JP as u may notice that JP got a lot of surplus FPs right in the beginning but never enough RPs, unless the war is going really well for JP.

while the above are not mutally exclusive, esp. (1) and (3), but with JP's PP, its difficult to focus on more than one objective.

if u take strategy (3), or if u are doing particularly well in CHN by mid-41, india will be ur next goal. but dont over extend urself or WA will hit u hard.

finally, dont ignore ur homeland defence, esp if WA got a lot of transports (that means u and GER are not doing good enough in the transport hunting game). while the new "samuri pop up" rule helps, its still possible for the WA to make a surprise amphib attack, with lots of tech-up CAGs support, at JP's homeland. that will result in an early surrender of JP.

hope it helps [:)]
