Using WITP engine for Norway campaign

Post by starsis1 »

Hi, everybody! There has been several discussions about feasibility of using WITP engine for other theaters (Med being the most commonly mentioned). What do you think about doing Norway '40 scenario? I think it would be a great match - naval aspect would be predominant, followed by the air (including air assault and supply), plus the limited ground aspects - there were few useful roads and few "bases" to fight over which would make it ideal for the current land war model. The scale would have to be adjusted i think to something more manageable (30 nm?).

Any ideas?

I would reccomend having a look at this thread - tm.asp?m=948002

It's about Captain Cruft's work on a map for the Atlantic and Mediterranean theatres. He eventually canned the idea for reasons he lists towards the end of the thread.. you may be interested.

Starsis, I think it would make a wonderful game. Probably more research and work then would make it profitable though given the small scale of the scenario. Still, it would be a lot of fun.

WiTP 2 could allow us to simulate both a Mediterranean and a Norway scenario if it had a map editor, a separated directory for graphics, a expanded database and a event editor.

Main problem with a Norwegian scenario is that the Allies can't loose unless they do a series of bad mistakes

I don't think that many would like to play Kriegsmarine in that scenario..."Stuka bonus" or not...[:D]
