Punt Return Bug

Post by rroberson »

Enclosed is a photo of the bug. The returner in question let the ball roll into the endzone (a good thing in my opinion and I almost cheered finallY!) Followed the ball into the endzone, then ran back and forth over it. Both punt teams lined up at the 1 waiting for him to scoop it up. He never did. No amount of escape key or any other key banging ended the play. I had to end the game, which was a shame, I was using Old coaches new plays and they really punch up the offense quite a bit. At any rate...bugariffic.

Yes, this has been seen by a number of people, including myself. The workaround for now so you can continue is to save the game and then immediately reload the saved game.

I assume Mr.Winter is aware that upon crossing the goal line the ball is dead.in NFL punt returns are not allowed from the endzone.
I do assume that.

I am sure he does. Since this is not an NFL game, what is your point?

in NFL punt returns are not allowed from the endzone.

Maybe that's why the returner won't pick up the ball.

What is with those refs not blowing the whistle?

I assume Mr.Winter is aware that upon crossing the goal line the ball is dead. In NFL punt returns are not allowed from the endzone. I do assume that.

This is not totally correct. If a member of the receiving team fields the punt from the end zone without the ball touching the ground inside the end zone, he may return the ball out of the end zone. It is unwise to do so, but it is legal.

In 2004, the rule was changed to make a ball that touched the ground in the end zone a dead ball, as it was a returnable ball prior to that. I do assume that is what your mean.
