I just made a very simple Highschool stadium for MaxFB and got it loaded into the game with ease. You don't even need to extract anything from the .wvs files. Just make your own .X files, put them into a custom directory with a stadium .dat file and the game will understand it.

I'm planning to make more of these Generic type Stadiums for the game as low poly in order to help low end users.

All I got was this
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong
I tried 3d studio Max 5 and an old version of True Space. When you say stadium.dat
do you mean stadiumdata.txt

I might have to try Milkshape

I've also noticed that in 3d studio max there's a dummy box

Is the stdium supposed to fit within that dummy.

I used an old version of 3d explorer to convert the .x file to 3ds by the way :)

Sorry, I don't know much about 3d Studio Max, I use Milkshape. A much less expensive and simpler 3d tool then some of the more famous 3d apps out there.

Ya, I meant to say "stadiumdata.txt" file. If you open that file up and rename the model name "Building.x" and name your Stadium .X file "Building.x", it should work. Also, when copying one of the stadiumdata.txt files, be aware that some of the Stadiums have slightly different .txt files from one another. For example, the Arena stadiumdata.txt has some specail data that allows it too only be a Dome type stadium (no weather). Personally, I use one of the very simple (ie. low poly) stadiumdata.txt files to use with my Highschool stadium.

Finally got mine to work too

it was a problem with 3d explorer

I got the newer version which is deep exploration and exported to .x from Max and it worked [:)]
I just made it one whole texture and it took it that way [8D]

I just have to photoshop it and it's done
Also need to make it load the sky texture

There didn't seem to be a big improvement in the fps tho. The stadium is under 300 poly compared to 2000 polys and it was running between 30 and 40 fps

I'm running on Radeon 9500

Good start.

I extracted the arena files yestarday for anyone interested. It is a bit more complicated with several .x files.

At any rate I have used the free Truespace 3.2 package to manipulate some things. It is pretty clunky, 5.2 is better but I can't save anything because it is a demo. I can veiw, edit, and save stuff from the existing stuff Dave made using Truespace 3.2 so that may be all I need. If I get really into this stuff I might by Truespace 5.2, but it is expensive ($200). I wish I could justify work paying for it!

Also, there are some interesting 3d graphics files (like the sidelines, practice field, and goalposts) in the "gamedata.wvs" file. Same thing with the stadiums, a bunch of .bmp's and .x files. I can get at them if anyone wants them. Might be interesting to add some low poly guys to the sidelines or mess with the practice field.

I'm working on a Highschool stadium at the moment, and I would like to take a screenshot to display what I got, but for some reason when I hit "PrintScreen" button it doesn't take the shot that I want. Is the F12 button a better choice?

Use F12
Mine is done but I'm gonna try it with the new beta patch to make sure it loads
I'll put it up for download in a bit.

By the way you can make it use .jpg images when you export
I think the exporter from Milkshape allows you to do that also [:)]

Good job! I will send you the arena unpacked when I test it in a game tonight.

The "gamedata.wvs" file is huge, about 80 MB to go through. It will be a long process. I skimmed through it at work last week and saw what I listed above. It may be awhile before I get that one unpacked, and even if I did it would be so huge I am not sure it can be sent through e-mail anyways. I think if we want to mess with that one it will require a unpacking and re-packing utility that I don't have anywhere near ready.

Thats ok, after figuring out how too make my own stadiums without the need for any stuff from the .wvs files, I think I will just stick too making my own Stadiums/Arenas.
